Douglas Motorsports Prepares for TORC Season with PDG Test Session

Perris, CA (April 22, 2009) – The two day test session at Perris Auto Speedway was extremely beneficial for Scott Douglas and his #7 AMSOIL Kumho Tire Sycuan Casino Ford F-150 PRO-4WD. Douglas Motorsports experimented with several different chassis setups throughout the weekend. The notes the team took will really come into play when the TORC series comes back to Perris for rounds three and four. In fact, the opening weekend of the TORC series will be held at a similar track at Texas Motor Speedway.

The Sunday test sessions ran all afternoon and into the night. While the Monday sessions concluded at one o’clock in the afternoon. The characteristics of the track changed dramatically when the sun went down. During the day time, the track quickly dried out and became very slick. When the sun went down, the moisture stayed in the track creating a better surface for traction. The Bill Smith, PRO-FAB Motorsports chassis was designed with the ability to quickly change chassis setups allowing Scott to get the best performance from his #7 AMSOIL Kumho Tire PRO-4WD every time out.

Douglas Motorsports veteran crew; Chief Engineer, Bill Smith, Crew Chief, Jason Schampers, Specialists Ted Kendall, Steve Douglas, and Mike Schoftall, quickly made changes between test runs. After every run Scott and Bill discussed how well the race truck handled the .7 mile layout. By the final run on Sunday night, the team had the #7 truck “haulin the mail.” Scott was smiling ear to ear as he jumped out the truck.

“My team is really on its game,” exclaimed Scott Douglas. “We came out here with a plan, and it was executed perfectly. Throughout the day we experimented with brake bias, tire grooving, sway bars, springs, brake pads, you name it, we tried it. Our final run Sunday night was designed to be a race setup that we believe would really hookup in the evening air. It sure did. The only miscue was the slow rollover Sunday afternoon, but we landed back on the wheels and ran five more laps. We tried a soft spring up front and it bit us. The only thing it hurt was my pride. I can’t thank the PDG and AMSOIL for hosting this test session. They are my sponsor and support me well, but it’s incredible what they are doing for short course off-road racing. I can’t wait to get to Texas.”

The first weekend of racing in the inaugural Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL is May 15-16 at the Dirt Track at Texas Motor Speedway.
