No manager in F1 or Indy wants him full time. He is a PR stunt and thats it. He and Zak Brown are major shareholders (and sit on the board) of the largest motorsport media conglomerate.
He will pop up here and there, do something with a mediocre result (or a fixed result like Lemans where the sister car all of a sudden had a different part and had to give up pole, and then 3/4 through the race all of a sudden had problems so Alonsos car could catch up and pass and kept the lead without contest. Didnt matter much there was no one else in their class racing). Anytime he doesnt win it will be the cras fault, or it will be a claimed "test run" for a future "real attempt'.
Each major top third team had an opening (yes, even bottas was on thin ice, and ferrrari had already decided to move kimi) and mercedes, ferrari, reed bull, Haas, FI, Renault; all of their team managers publicly said they did not want him because he is too much drama, requires lop sided parts, data and strategy preference over his team mate and is not a known car developer.
So how is he great? He was really good 9 years ago... since he started with Ferrari he has been a PR stunt.
Consider the ocon v perez situation. Ocon rates higher, but he doesnt have a drive. Is it really just that he had a mercedes backing? Or is it that he didnt bring $17m a year to the team like Perez? or does this list have nothing to do with reality when it comes to what a team would truly really want?
