What rear end did the 1982-1986 ford f150's have? Did they have one standard size for all them?

I'm pretty sure they came with the 8.8. I also remember a 9.25 or 9.75. Anyone? Gotta weld the tubes on the carrier housing on the 8.8....they like to widen themselves a little prematurely.

My 1983 fullsize Bronco came with the 8.8" rearend. In my dealings with the Bronco most people would agree that 1983 was the year Ford stopped using the 9" rearend for the lighter duty stuff. In the case of the Bronco I know that most 1982 models had the 9" rearend whereas most 1983 models had the 8.8" rearend.

1983 is right. Guess I need to brush up on Ford history.

9's were options till 85 in the f150's when for some strang reason they stopped making them. They all have the same mounting dim's as the 8.8 boat anchor.
