The fastest vehicle to ever race in the desert was probably a Camaro raced at the SCORE Parker 400. He was clocked at 162mph in the late 70's at Thunder Alley. I am sure somebody here remembers the Camaro and the timing/speed area at Thunder Alley and can expand on this.

Are you talking about the Russell's that ran the 67/68 Camaro in class 6?

Very good possibility Russells Camaro was the one. I only say due to remembering the scoop on top of the car. Brian Coats is still around. Maybe he can chime in. Here is a pic of the vehicle. Again, not 100% sure this was the one timed at such a high speed.

Its less to do with weight and more to do with down force.... at high speeds its all about having the power and putting it to the ground. If the car is light and doesnt gain much down force with speed its going to loose traction. The lighter Class 1 cars are going to go slower than the heavy ones like Danzio and RPS.

Seems all todays top TT are very close in max speed as from what I hear, yea set up, driver etc, etc is a biggy, the one truck that always comes to my mind being quick and fast was the ol 38 Cadiente/23 Dircks&Porter TT. Not only fast, but very good at acceleration too. I remember at Laughlin 2004 when driven by Gary Dircks, the 23 beat RG in the 31 by a good margin off the start! Again I belive 2007 Laughlin now driven by 38 Cadiente, got the whole shot on Andy in the Ex RG truck! Both RG and Andy were quick, but that same truck did get them both of the start. Not only that Cadiente and Doircks both had there share of victories in that Geiser. the 62/23/38 TT is my favorite pick as a Geiser, might have the most wins too! don't quote me tho!

I have seen the #8 tt, back when it was the blue #99, hover above the ground in V2R in about 2007 at around 200+mph.... or so it seemed.

As for a Camaro... I am reminded of a song....

Not a real tt, but a fun truck anyway. They claim 1750hp.

Same one as you. If we are talking top speed and agility. However, it’s doesn’t have SCORE approved burnout systems on board.
i think that truck sounded faster than it was running that particular motor. wasn't that truck running a triton v-10 or something like that. ron whittons truck sorta sounds like that thing did. i could be wrong on this and as hard as it is to believe, it wouldn't be the first time ja ja ja.
Rons truck sounds like Rons truck, not like any other. Nor will any sound like it. Its orgasmic since we are talking porn here...
