This is one of those where's Waldo deals. My favorite part is the pink windshield wiper arm.

Here's a mod'd pic of the original - did we miss any?

I believe that is the Standard model for Phillipine Jeepney. The LX has the "extra" lights and another graphics stripe. None come with A/C.

Dave-

Funny you say that... actually that was the first thing I thought of when I saw the post. You guys do great work :)

I always knew building the Herbst stuff and flying was just a hobby.... The Jeepney is what keeps the doors open and the food on the table right?

Jeff,
That things been long gone for about 5 years or better.... I hope it get's swallowed up by a volcano or something over there in Hawaii. Now we gotta work on real off road vehicle stuff to put food on the table. ;-)

I heard a story about 15 years ago that a guy local around here had 3 or 4 flat fender bodies punched out and bent up in the Phillipines. Supposedly trashed the tooling in the process. Imagine that.
He built one for himself (Olive Drab frame with a gold irridesent clear coat and polished body was the one I saw) and supposedly had the other body parts waiting for who knows what. Wonder if one of them was what you worked on ?

RE: ". Wonder if one of them was what you worked on ?"

I don't think so. The one we worked on was a stainless body from the Phillipines but the owner was a neuro surgeon from Hawaii. As far as I know it was shipped to Hawaii after going to Washington for leather interior.

I got to see the "Jeep" Dave and company were working on years ago when I was getting some engine machine work done. What Dave was working on was no regular Jeepney. This super stainless one-of-a-kind at the time had a price tag around $250,000 and was expected to climb higher. I looked at it for two hours straight one day trying to find $250,000 worth of work - it was the most ho-hum $250,000 vehicle I ever saw. Nothing about it really screamed look at me, I'm worth as much as a Bentley! Top notch craftsmanship - what I want to know is how a brain surgeon from Hawaii found this little shop in San Berdoo - that one always escaped me.

If memory serves me correctly it looked like it was built or based on a CJ-8 platform. I forget the running gear (had power I remember that) and other specifics but it's got to be one of the most expensive Jeeps on the entire planet - I bet it would qualify for some Guiness record.

If I knew the name of the guy that had it built I'd go track the thing down the next time I'm over in the islands and take a few pictures. Trophy truck pricetag in an island cruiser...

Aloha
