I got to see the "Jeep" Dave and company were working on years ago when I was getting some engine machine work done. What Dave was working on was no regular Jeepney. This super stainless one-of-a-kind at the time had a price tag around $250,000 and was expected to climb higher. I looked at it for two hours straight one day trying to find $250,000 worth of work - it was the most ho-hum $250,000 vehicle I ever saw. Nothing about it really screamed look at me, I'm worth as much as a Bentley! Top notch craftsmanship - what I want to know is how a brain surgeon from Hawaii found this little shop in San Berdoo - that one always escaped me.
If memory serves me correctly it looked like it was built or based on a CJ-8 platform. I forget the running gear (had power I remember that) and other specifics but it's got to be one of the most expensive Jeeps on the entire planet - I bet it would qualify for some Guiness record.
If I knew the name of the guy that had it built I'd go track the thing down the next time I'm over in the islands and take a few pictures. Trophy truck pricetag in an island cruiser...
