Some photos from the GIANT Motosports Prerun w/ Ray Files. Photos taken by Matt Torian & Mo Thorton

From Matt Torian:
A group of 8 of us preran the Baja 500 last weekend and had an awesome time in Mexico, here are some pictures of the weekends adventures. We ran from Ensenada to San Felipe, stayed the night in Felipe, played around on the beach all day, then ran from Felipe to Mikes sky ranch and stayed the night, then from Mikes to San Vicente and then back to Ensenada. Epic trip, 450 race course miles at race speed and zero problems except for the pitman arm at mile .5

Stopped in Puerto Nuevo Friday night for Lobster on the way into Ensenada

That plate is 78 dollars worth of lobster!

In Ensenada Saturday morning getting ready to leave for 3 days.

Greeley's truck, raced Ridgecrest the weekend before

Geoff and the Squeeker

Mexi's truck, The Explorer Sport Trac of Death "estod" so legit for preruning

and Ray Files prerunner 16 car

This dog is rad

heading out of town to Ojos

el pandito, specializing in burritos?

full custom class 11, "el gordito"

We started the prerun and at mile .5 the squeeker broke the pitman arm, Me and Mexi spotted Geoff right into this huge rain rut, looked to be the start of a long day. Headed to the Wide Open Baja Challenge shop outside Ensenada and this place was pretty impressive...We had the squeeker fixed back up within 2 hours total down time.

The shop foreman inspecting the arm

Gettin jiggy

All the old bumpers

Mexi approves!

This looked like a cartwheel victim

Piles of arms were everywhere

prep

The workers checking out the sport trac, they liked it alot

loading dock bumper

Pitman arm tacked up

The foreman wanted to do the repair all himself

Heating it up prior to rewelding

Geoff approves, light tab gusset

rear lower arm jig

got 1.25 steering heims?

The fiberglass area

typical mexi junkyard

Repairs almost done

bad spotting on our part, it was a pretty square ditch

Sport Trac ready for war

First overall, what what! Try and catch us!

Ray Files, this was around mile 55, shfity five!

Greeley

Geoff

The course

Coming into San Felipe, this road was so much fun. Full speed for miles

And finally on Morelia Road heading east after driving all day we finally see the sea of cortez just before dusk, priceless

Gassing up at the Pemex and heading up to Mikes for the night, the run up to Mikes is soo fun, especially at night with stock headlights!

This thing had full stacks, they were fake though.

Leaving San Felipe

Arrived at Mikes after dark, the Mopar TT team was the only other team staying the night there

Chase truck

Brian Collins swooping in on my pic

Collins TT Prerunner

Hovey's prerunner class one

Water crossing leaving Mikes on Monday, the estod knows no other speed for water crossings other than full-kill. Copy, I think we blew all the water out of the crossing, copy Geoff, haha

We raced pretty much full speed from Mikes all the way to the ocean, 300 foot cliffs the whole way, no big deal.

Carne asada on course! MOOO-ve over!

Greeley cliff shot, its like this for 30+ miles

Ray cliffs

The view here you could see the ocean 30 miles away

Farmiliar prerunner from dust to glory at a taco shop in Valley de Trinidad, I have about 15 more pics of this truck, this thing is seriously sick as ****. Incredible attention to detail. So many race parts on it and it looks still sleeper.

Be sure to close the gates in Baja or the cows will get out!

The group

The view headed back west towards the Pacific Ocean, this run is so much fun.

And now back home Monday night we found a piece of cactus still stuck in the sport tracs spare tire, stuck there all the way from San Felipe.

geoff figured he'd be under his truck some point in the trip and didnt want to kill a og da shirt! now if you guys had shop rags with a da emblem on them, geoff would sport one of those in his back pocket 24/7.

solid trip, almost dissapointing that we didnt break more stuff... yea, posting that i just jinx'd myself.
