Is there a "for sell" thread on DR yet? Id love to read the comments. No thanks. I'd rather have 2 Geiser TT's and some spares for that price. lol
So what's the deal? Is there a new Dakar truck? (I figured him and Dakar was like Ahab and Moby Dick and he would fight it til he wins or it kills him.)
Harry - I'd be interested to hear how much you NA guys know about what's happening internationally with SST.Never say never, but I would be surprised if he goes back again. The last time he was there he was not competitive, and things ended on a really dark note.
SST is doing well and keeps him busy enough, RG is smart to focus on that.
It did and I hope they're there again this weekend (Bathurst weekend - the biggest weekend in motorsport for Aussie and NZ too). My understanding were that the SST's were welcome as a class (as they should be) but RG wasn't welcome to compete. From what I can see, his race in Darwin will be his last in Aussie for at least a year. By all means, if someone has better/more info, chime in.There was a thread about that on here when it happened. Most seemed to think that it was just another RG publicity stunt. I thought that he was banned from driving on public roads but not competition though? Didn't SST just go back to Australia?
I bet he does go back, but builds a more compact hummer style vehicle. The original was designed with few weight savings in mind. They lightened it up before they sent it to Africa with the Ronn Bailey deal. But I believe that was the year they cancelled the rally and we never got to see what it could do on a true African course. It then went to SA finished 3rd in '09, and showed speed in following editions until he retired it for the Gordinis.Never say never, but I would be surprised if he goes back again. The last time he was there he was not competitive, and things ended on a really dark note.
