It looks like it's official. The California Secretary of State has announced this morning that there are more than 1.3 million valid voter signatures on the Davis recall petitions. Many more than what was needed. It looks like Davis is on his way to go'in down.

Asta la vista, baby!

I was watching the news the other day and they were saying something about Cruz Bustamante being appointed to the position or something like that.. What sucks is the money its gonna cost for this re-election.. Over 13million just in LA county where teachers are already losing jobs..

Cruz Bustamante is the Lt. Govenor and it is his job to set the date for election. This whole thing is a disaster. No legitament canadites and its gonna cost a ton of money all because Daryl Issa didn't like Davis and was rich enough to pay people for their signatures. All this when California is about to go belly up. This state is the laughing stock of the nation right now, just look at the cover of the current Newsweek.

It's unfortunate that people would perceive this as a laughing stock and not be bothered by the fact that this guy lost $60 BILLION ($ 30B surplus to $30B deficit) in the last few years alone! It only took $10 billion to TAKE OVER IRAQ! Think about it. We've got to stop the bleeding somehow, and charging you and I more taxes isn't an acceptable solution. Teachers (democrats) blindly elected him -- if they were too biased and uniformed to see how much money this fool was pissing away, then they got what they deserved.

According to your reasoning than you should be demanding the recall of President Bush. He took a surplus (created by a democrat who was able to balance a budget, go figure?) and turned it into one of the largest deficits of all time. I don't hear you bitching about him.

Ignorance is bliss

Hell , I say dump Bush and the whole lot of senetors , congressmen ,govs, all of them and start over . One person being removed doesn't solve the problem . It is a step in the right direction , but not a solution . The only thing this will prove is that we can oust someone if we put our mind to it , but look at the price it will cost financially . Where does that money go to exactly ?? Our " BIG Government " system sucks as a whole . Over the last 30 years take a look at what rights we as citizens have lost and how much more power our gov has gained . It's looking like we are headed to straight socialism . I can't wait to see where our gov takes us in the next 30 years . That is IF we can even manage to be alive then with the idiots we have now running OUR country !!! That is a big IF !! Long live freedom huh ?

Maybe so, but I don't hear you disputing the charges. You sound like a typical partisan politician; blaming one side and ignoring the faults of your own. I agree with you that Davis stinks, but I don't believe this is the solution.

hey syko no one was paid to write their name down. You are ignoring the fact that people want him out so they sign their name. You sound like Davis' laywers. Even if the signature drive was funded by Satan himself it makes no difference because it comes down to the voters signing it with their own free will. Here is the bottom line: He is doing a crappy job. He barely got elected last time, and he wouldn't have if he didnt cover up the huge deficit. He still refuses do to something about passing a budget, which would actually make people want to keep him in office. People are pissed off, and I think its great that they are showing sacramento that if you suck bad enough, you get kicked out of office. They are no longer safe till next election time.

I was referring to the fact that the people trying to obtain the signitures were getting paid per signiture to get them, which is some counties is illegal and gives people incentive to get creative when trying to fill up the ballots.

I totally agree with you about what a great message it sends to our elected officials that if they suck, we will try and kick them out. In fact, I brought up this point last time a thread of this nature came up in the environmental forum, do a search if you'd like.

Finally, what I was saying was that if you are pissed off at Davis beacuse of the enormous deficit, than you should be even more pissed off at Pres. Bush, as he is guilty of the same negligence. Recalling a Govenor is a scarring thing as it means ANYBODY can run and win, even without a majority of the vote. Who knows who will end up as governor. Sometimes the devil you know is better than the devil you don't.

It's always nice to see some prominent member of the community give something back. I can't think of a better gift to the people of California than to help remove davis.

the people who collect the votes have been getting paid since day one. they get payed in lump sums such as every 5,000 votes= $500, but they all still have to be registered voters. thats just as bad as funding a campaign. $ shouldn't affect davis though because, since he is in office, he gets unlimited finance. it's all on how you market it. nobody paid me to vote for the re-call.

Travis-

People get paid to do a job. Bottom Line. This is one our wonderful rights to live where we live. We don't like who we elect, no prob, we get them out. Comparing Davis to Bush is asinine. Davis took how much $$$ from Enron to put the state in a energy crisis AFTER deregulation?? I'm sorry if I'm a card carrying member of the NRA, and happen to like a boy from Texas in the Big Seat. Talk all the smack you want to about him. He's spending $$$ where it needs to go. Bush is reacting to a tradgedy that happened, and what the people want to see. Put down your Newsweek and Wall St. Journal for a second or two to clear your eyes.

Syco, the people that got "coerced" into signing the recall by the "paid" pollers are the same morons who voted for Davis in in the first place. The rest of us would have paid to sign! Even if it costs $13 Billion to get him out, it would still be a bargain!!!

Hey JrSyko,
Your making this way more complicated than it is. Here's what the problem is.....

There are more people riding in the wagon than pulling it.

I'm sorry, but if you want to talk about energy plans, than we can't excuse Cheney's little secret meetings...oh...but wait, we don't know what took place. At least the facts about Davis' plan were released to the public. You think deregulation is going to work?! Of course not. The big companies are only going to get bigger and more powerful leaving the consumer, i.e. you and me, with little choices other than to pay what we are told. I can't believe after hearing all the complaints from you guys about how the BLM and other agencies get so big and powerful you fail to see the some connection here. But I digress.

There seems to be some confusion here and so I'll clarify. I don't like Davis and I like the message we are sending to our elected officials that if you are not doing a good job, you will be removed. However, I don't think this is a good time to try and implement something like that, especially given the fact that there are no qualified candadites to take his place.

In reference to the signatures, the point I failed to make was that I watched a lot of people simply sign the recall because they had no clue about what was going on and they were pressured into signing by the people who were collecting the signatures. Thats all I was trying to convey.

Finally, I must comment on this statement: "He's spending $$$ where it needs to go"

Where?! I don't see it. Are you implying about how he mislead the American public about the "immenent threat" (to borrow his words) that is Iraq and thus spends it nation building (which he said he won't do)? Here's what I see: He forces the states to comply with the hightened security but doesn't offer any Federal money to pay for it. So the states are forced to pay for it and thus are faced with mounting deficits. As a result, you guys get pissed at the Govenor (maybe because he is a democrat) and demand he be removed.

I want you guys to ask yourselves something and please be honest (I don't care if you tell me or not, just do it) would you be pissed off and demanding the removal of the govenor if he was a Republican?

Ya Sadam must be really good to still have all those weapons of mass distruction hidden so well . How much money has Bush wasted so far ?? Who put Sadam in power ?? Oh that's right , the same people that put the taliban in power ...... Our brilliant government !!! They just choose who they like , that will benefit them at a certain time , and give them what they need to gain power of a region . Hell OUR government even sends our soldiers to fight side by side with these people and die to get what they want done . Then when they get tired of the person they helped , they just start up the propaganda again, and tell the American public that this guy is a threat so WE need to deal with him . Hmmmmm ......... Doesn't make much sense to me . But hey ........ Our government doesn't die when the bullets and missles fly . American soldiers do !!! So to them it's no biggie . It actually helps their cause by relaying the dead soldier stories to the American public so the gov looks justified for the crimes they are commiting . Just think about it for a second .

I am not pro anybody !!! I say if they suck then kick there ass out of office !!! Republican , Democrat , who cares ?? A liar is a liar .

It is my most sincere hope that one day our American citizens will rise up and overthrow our POS government . Ask yourselves , what were the values, principles, morals and truths our county was founded on , and what has happened to them ?
