Thanks Josh! Very cool and I appreciate that. I got good truck work done this weekend thanks to some freakishly cool days for phoenix in july. Another 40 or 50 days like today and I could get it done..

The split pot is cleaver. It gives the mid-packer something to hope for.

Good to hear from Kermit too, he is one of the guys I was thinking could be prodded. His truck is a very solid Leduc F150. I rode a lap in it at the parker 425 a few years ago, and it is a contender.

Where is the Mcrae Glass 8 truck? I was hoping to chase them around at parker some day, but he got out.

I recently bought back from Mike Colman the Class 8 that Kevin Built for me in 1991. I ran class 8 from 1974 to 1991 9 of those years without sponsors . I have lived both sides of it .It would be a dream come true for me if Class 8 came back .I have to believe that Class 8 could be a great class again . No big time sponsors , just fun! I have really missed the THUNDER

Several times in this thread I noticed a mention of a modification of 1450 rules to make "steel cab / working doors" not mandatory to create an option for some trucks.

Don't do that. Don't even think about doing that. At all. If ya take away that rule then trophy trucks are 1450 legal. I admit some of the 1450s are almost trophy trucks anyways but still.

Leave 1450 alone and figure out a different way to bring back class 8 to glory days of the past. Please.

Fiberglass 1450 is already a thing.

1450 Pro (fiberglass allowed) v. 1450 Sportsman (Metal cab, working doors)

At least that is how MORE has it split.

im in Havasu .... and not that you need any new friends....
i started dabbling in a vintage stockfull truck. Man would I love to pick your brain....... would be awesome
79 Ford... it’s been around for a while... anyhow if you’d be interested I’d be honored
We are obviously just racing the vintage classes (local deals) Norra is on the bucket list.
anyhow .....
if I could get ahold of my trucks big brother class 8 that would be cool. We would like to race them both in a few local venue.
come on loto......

sorry to derail the thread .... but it loosely ties into class 8

My vintage 8 truck won’t hang with the trucks set up to current rules but that doesn’t stop me from racing. I love this thread and hope class 8 makes a return. My dad has a current 8 truck and we race both with VORRA. My 2 cents is 37” max on tires and keep carbureted. Keep the rest of the rules as is

Where did Beny Canela's 'Escandalo' truck end up?

I got a ride in that thing YEARS ago. Badass machine!
I’m pretty sure Beny‘s long time friend and co driver Art Peterson has it now and believe me that was not by accident (Beny was one of my very best friends along with One of my other very best friends ”MARXICO”) ... Yes I just looked out in my shop and it’s here, I assure you it is in very good hands, I’m holding onto it for Beny until we meet again.
And thanks Michael.
VIVA BENY CANELA !!
VIVA MARXICO !!
VIVA ESCANDALO !!
VIVA CLASS OCHO !!

that is a lot of trucks, if you could get 30 per race, that would put on a heck of a show, booming v8s pounding on each other , need an association , to get a rules pakage that makes it cheap& fun, and have a series that evens out the points , so if a guy is going for points& dosent do baja, he wont get penalized, like count your top 5 out of a 7 race series, maybe a double points race in the states & Mexico, but you can only count one or the other, mix it up, do inverted starts as per last races results., oh, &pump gas only...
Those of us that have motors designed for race gas don’t need to be forced to change our engine combination.... with the cost of race fuel believe me it’s already a penalty.
One thing we cannot do is roll back the rules making trucks that are currently legal illegal.

Dumb... I hope that doesnt spread to other Orgs.

Sorry for going off topic but "LEAVE 1450 ALONE".

Classes with their own problems should be able to solve their own problems WITHOUT causing new problems for other classes.

seems its a trend, first it starts innocent enough, fiberglass in 1450, next, its v8s in class 7, or just create another class for a particular v8 truck, jeeez, whats next, im waiting on the free entryfees for the poor racer class,ps, this thread should be fans, peanut gallery of class 8 only, 8 coalition members ok for rebutal purposes😉

Yes Jon The pain is real when it comes to budgeting in race gas @ 2mpg, that’s not true mileage but that is the number I have to use when calculating the amount of fuel to purchase for a race,

We still have our Nelson and Nelson class 8, that Dad and I run in 1450 in SNORE now. Still meets all Class 8 rules and yes, runs on race fuel. I agree with not changing that rule. Would love to see Class 8 come back as it’s own class, not merging with 1450! Excited to see where this goes
