I'm Jeff.
I found this on craigslist and not sure what to do with it.
Never had a real race car before, but have always had VW's and r/c buggys.
I don't have a bunch of money, but have a baja bug I can sell for some cash to put into it.00v0v_fanw4W0IJmK_1200x900.jpgb2.JPGb6.JPG

I think I am going to keep it.
I need to do a bunch of research.

the price of 356 parts is crazy. Do you think it is better than a rack & pinion for a vintage single seat race car?

A guy that builds drag race transaxles wants to buy my baja bug, and he will let me keep the 5 rib 002 with close 3/4 for the buggy.
He said he will go through it for me and check everything out too.

I guess i should start a new thread somewhere. Show and Tell?

A rack would be way stronger. That transmission would be fine for that car.
It looks like parts for the 356 box are real hard to find also. I think I will sell it and use the funds to obtain a rack and pinion, and maybe one of those trick steering columns if there is enough $$ left over.
Thank you for your help.
