hydraulic bender conversion

I have a model 3 bender and want to convert it to hydraulic. What do you guys think of an air over hydraulic pump vs an electric pump ? The air version is cheaper but is it as smooth annd controlable as the electric ?

Any info on this would be great as I dont want to regret a wrong purchase.

Well I just ordered it up. I went the air / over hydraulic pump. They said the electric is faster, but the air has more power behind it. I would rather have it a little slower anyway so you can control it better.

I'll let you know how it goes after I get it and play with it. They said the pump will either be an Enerpac or Power Team 10,000 psi.

I ended up ordering the air/hydr ram that is mentioned at the end of the thread above. It costs $105 delivered from Max Tools. I hope it will be here by the weekend.

105 bucks for an air/hyd pump?? let me know if it works out for you, my whole new truck only has like 10 bends in it, and i'm sick of pumping that thing already.

Ok I will. The PBB (board that I posted a link to a thread) is having problems right now but there are a lot of people that have already gone this route and they have posted pictures and all.

I just picked up this air operated hydro pump on ebay for $27. Anybody had any experience with these? What kind of air pressure is required when using a pump like this? Hopefully, I can fab this dude up with a ram to my model #3 JD bender.

I guy in my 4x4 club has gone this route. He's running off a 6HP, 20 gallon air compressor. He said to fill the ram with oil, and go for it. Working great for him.
