I need to replace the inner bearing where the halfshafts go into the diff on my 97 GMC 4x4 1500. Has anybody had to do this and how hard was it to replace? DoO I need any special tools?

Inner bearing???? You can get rebuilt halfshafts for your truck. They run around $280 for both. Wheel bearings are EXPENSIVE but I dont think thats what you are talking about. Its not that hard to replace them just takes alittle time.

Thanks for the info. It is the inside bearing at the differential. If you grab the first cv joint, you can wobble the shaft as it goes into the diff. Not a good thing considering I offroad my truck at least once a month or more. Do you know if there are better than stock halfshafts for my truck? I always like to upgrade when I replace parts.
