I would not read too much into it. Take it as a show produced for the entertainment of the mass medium. Nothing more.LMAO....the thing had more spliced clips than a bad porno.....We saw him I guess this was the same race at RM 180 Aprox and he was out of it there. We passed him in stock full, so he was WAY behind there. Total fake depiction of the race, the clips, the danger.....all around B.S. Disappointed, since he's the producer....Funny listening to his coderiver saying "Don't go fast in the tight sections!" where they went into a gulley at around RM 107 just before the summit.
I agree, you have to take it for what it is, it's supposed to appeal to the masses, and regardless of how you view the show the Baja 500 was on yet another nationwide television show...I feel that the part with Jesse in the ravine was a good depiction of racing in Baja with the struggles of communication, lack of help due to the remote locations, and the will power that the drivers and codrivers have just to try and finish such a challenging race...overall, I think it made our sport look good (from a nationwide, mass audience standpoint).Cool footage. I could do without the major over-dramatization but I have to admit, I didn't peel my eyes off the show.
I am off to build some mine fields so I can work on my hand-eye coordination.
x2, I think it was entertaining from the general perspective. The casual person that does not know anything about off-road probably thought it was a good show. I think the producers did a great job of winning over the mass audience with a good depiction of desert racing and Baja. kudos Jesse. I dug it!
