Our vote for the Toyo Desert Challenge Saturday race is to add a lap. We want 285+

I felt that last years race had a lot of high speed fairly smooth sections with technical rock sections in between. Not super rough, but the potential for race ending damage with a mistake in the technical areas. The race was super fun! Might have been rougher for the unlimited classes on Sunday though. The three 77 mile laps and two 44 mile laps format last year made it fun to see the two different areas and kept us from running the same lines too much (while still going by the main pit 6 times!).

We will miss qualifying, but the prologue might be pretty cool.

Can't wait to get out there!

So much this! I love this format for this exact reason.

Not sure what class I’m voting for but less miles lol. Last year was the roughest course ever. I think the rain did something to cup out the whoops. Finish rate is always low at this one. Jax and I tried to take it easy and the pace the guys set was really fast. Shocked trucks can hold up. We ended up 4th I think

Kinda like sf250 no body wants to xtra miles haha

Does Prologue replace qualifying? If so, what determines start order of the prologue?

Yes I believe Prologue is replacing qualifying.

Dave said he would have some score system to create starting order. based on the last couple years of races for each racer. Seems like an ambitious research project though.

Also with 2 min splits it will help and there are places to pass. That being said I doubt anyone will move over when they know that will hurt there Prolouge/qualifying time. So more important to have faster guys up front.

I like the longer distance qualifying idea. I hope the loop stays a secret so everyone is running blind and it’s not torn up come green flag

I just got in from working on the course. There evidently has been alot of wind. And while its dry now, it appears that it has rained at some point. There is sand everywhere. I mean like EVERYWHERE. There is not a single piece of asphalt in sight!!!! There seems to be both left and right turns. Lots of bumps everywhere. Its pretty neat :) I hope you like it

Sorry, couldnt help myself. There is a TON of new desert in this course. like 40+ miles new.

Left AND right turns? bumps?!
Sounds like a good time!

Do you get special access to the 29 Palms base for the race/course?

We lease about 30 miles of race course from the Department of Navy.

We are extending that lease this year and expanding the routes extensively:)
