I heard that Rob Maccachren was part of the Motorsports All American Team this year. Does anyone know anything about this, and where I can get some more info on it and who votes on it? Possibley a list of everyone on it this year? Also is this the same thing that Robby G was put on back when he was an off road regular?

Off-road driver MacCachren named to AARWBA first team
MISC BUSINESS CORR SCORE BITD

2001-12-10

LAS VEGAS -- The 2001 All-America Auto Racing Team has been named with off-road driver Rob MacCachren collecting At-Large honors. MacCachren was nominated for the AARWBA (American Auto Racing Writers and Broadcasters Association) All America Team last week. MacCachren was one of six drivers on the ballot for the At Large category. MacCachren and Indy Lights champ Townsend Bell won the majority of the votes placing them on the prestigious first team. MacCachren will travel to Southern California in January to attend the AARWBA banquet.

MacCachren won seven major off-road titles in 2001 (Borg Warner Cup/CORR, Governors Cup/CORR, Pro-4 Championship/CORR, Best in the Desert Class Championship, SCORE & SNORE Class ½-1600 Class Championships as well as Overall Points Championships in SCORE and SNORE). Amazingly, MacCachren led the points chase on all above series from the first race forward.

Other drivers included in the prestigious 2001 All-America Racing Team include CART champion Gil de Ferran, IRL star Sam Hornish, NASCAR drivers Jeff Gordon, Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart. Road racing is represented by three-time Trans-Am champ Paul Gentilozzi and Grand-Am Rolex SportsRacer Prototype champ James Weaver. Drag Racing inductees are Kenny Bernstein and John Force. Short track drivers on the team are open wheel driver and Pennzoil World of Outlaws champion Danny Lasoski and USAC World Midget champ Dave Darland.

MacCachren picked up other top honors at the SCORE banquet held Saturday night in Las Vegas, NV. The MacCachren/Bruce Fraley duo won four of five SCORE races collecting top Overall honors. MacCachren also picked up his share of the Toyota True Grit award which went to the four winners of the non-factory backed SCORE classes who completed every required mile of the five SCORE races.
