The headlining driver couldn't make the drive so mario jump at the op to drive. He was out at practice with some cars at the end of the day session 2 minutes before the track closed, he said that some debri came off of Braks car, that had just hit the wall, and he ran it over.
According to the paper this morning, after the crash Mario has decided not to try and qualify for the upcoming Indy 500. I guess retirement is sounding prety good after walking away from something that big.

Mario was only going to get ready to qualify the car in case Tony Kanan could'nt make the first or second round of qualifying. Tony broke his arm in Japan at the IRLS 1st race.. In a seperate incident Tonys team mate, Franschitti, brike his back crashing a motorcycle while at home. That leaves The Andretti Green team with 3 cars entered and only one driver(Michael driving his last indy 500). Robby Gordon may drive Franschitti's car. It is looking like Tony will be back for the second weekend any way..
