What would cause a newer mustang V-8 to stall coming off the freeway. You put the clutch in and the RPMS bounce once and then drop off and the car shuts off? This is not happening all the time just every once in awhile.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the car is idle hunting. Possibly a fouled idle air valve. I haven't spent much time working on Fords, but that's where I would start.

My own taste for the hops is very powerful, and I had no intention of spending a beerless weekend...

What year?? I'd check the egr valve, may be sticking open, and the idle air control valve.

My ranger was doing that and it was becasue the clutch was not disengaging all the way and it would drop down to about 400 RPM but would only stall occasionally.
