Mint 400 race vehicle Parking

We have no dog in this fight but compared to what you guys are talking about: SNORE had it figured out when they brought the MINT back. The race car only lot and police escort were pretty painless. I know GG and the SNORE gang worked their tails off to make it easy on the racers as that was the priority.

As usual in this sport; even back then a few ballers needed 3X the space others did, and people left trash all over the lot that volunteers cleaned up. But that's seemingly part of the "Off Road Culture".

I don't get the appeal of racing the same old Primm and the tow to LV for the pony show, to me I'd rather do an Ensenada or San Felipe tech circus...

It has been a few years since I've helped with traffic and race vehicle parking/loading/unloading. The 1st two or three Mints I worked on tech/contingency there was a city/county lot under the freeway where you could park and unload, and drive your race vehicle on a prescribed route onto Fremont Street. I believe there were Police escorts involved. Not sure if that is still in place, but it seemed to work well, but I do remember there were a lot of teams thought finding and using that lot incovenient to where they had parked over night. They parked and drove wherever and I do know it did not make LVPD real happy!! Not sure if this was a factor in that lot going away, but it seemed like a good deal at the time.

That city lot may have been sold to Zappos when they bought the old city hall. In the past they used it for city hall overflow and police cruisers. They moved the big cop shop to a nice new building by the MLK business Costco and built a nice new city hall over by the new transit center.
