Mint 400 Shifts to December 1st-5th

What's up everyone? Definitely been a while.. Wanted to push out our announcement today to everyone here on the Race Dezert forum.

First off, the health and safety of our racers, sponsors, exhibitors, staff, and the public has always been, and will always be, our number one priority. Because of the inability by the State of Nevada, Southern Nevada Health District and COVID 19 Mitigation Task Force to permit large scale events in Clark County, we have shifted The Mint 400 to Wednesday, December 1st through Sunday, December 5th, 2021.

Since the Ivanpah Valley is closed to off-road racing between March 15th and November 1st, and there are numerous non-racing outdoor events already scheduled in the fall, the new December dates were our only available option. When we requested a new fall date for the event from the BLM, we were offered the first weekend in December as the only viable option.

We are acutely aware of what is at stake and don’t want to risk pushing ahead to March then not have an event. We are making this decision now because we recognize that traveling to Las Vegas and participating in the Mint is a significant financial investment. By doing so, we are preserving the safety, integrity, fun, and value of this historic race for everyone involved.

Whoa.

Tough break having to move it. Obviously this is going to bring some teams into conflict with the 1000. This is, I suppose the negative flip side to the close shave of timing with the Mint being one of the last major events of any kind to take place last year before the world locked down.

I hope that it is able to run successfully in December.

Thats a bummer for sure. Sucks for you guys to do all that planning and work and now have to push that far out. But better to be safe than sorry. I would be more worried about what happened to SNORE with a major event like the Mint400.

Not sure we can do both B1K and Mint400 that close. Thats a crazy time of year for us.

Just to address this now - We did not pick the new race dates. When we requested a new fall date for the event from the BLM, we were offered the first weekend in December as the only viable option. Longstanding permit holders for events are being given priority over first time special event applicants.

Also, we are not hosting The Mint 400 in conjunction with Legacy Racing, as some have speculated. We do not know the current status of their permit application. We do know that more than a dozen outdoor events in Las Vegas are currently being rescheduled for the fall, including those that operate near and around our race course.

This is a good move, the Mint 400 is no fun without the parade and big contingency on Fremont St. If they would have just done the race without the “show” I don’t think very many teams would have shown up.

Legacy announced they’re moving their date. Sounds like they didn’t have a secure permit?

"We also are very aware of the conflict with our December event the VT Construction Battleground scheduled on December 2-5, 2021. The Bureau of Land Management was very kind by reaching out to us that there was a conflict with another event. We are working on a new date and location for this event. Please stay tuned and watch our website for more information in regard to both of these events."
