This year was very kind to Brister/Ward motorsports. Both the teams 1/2 1600 car, and class 9 car won their respective classes to claim the season championships. Mike Ward would start the season off very strong by earning the top spot on the podium in the MORE season opener in car #1673. Only 2 weeks later son, (Michael "BUD" Ward), would take on very strong competition at the first Pro-9 event, the SNORE Battle at Primm and gain the gold in car #907. Both cars headed to the MORE Balls Out 250 and this time only the class 9 car would grab the victory while the class 1600 would have to settle for a first off the podium finish, due to an ill-running, back-up engine. Next, the 2 cars headed to the MORE 500 where both would encounter their share of problems. The 9 car would have to pull an engine early in the race to repair a cam plug that had worked its way out of the case; and later in the evening the 1600 car would incur an inversion that left the car in less-than-perfect shape. The cars and drivers would bounce back and regain a 3rd place in 1600 and a 4th in the 9. Next on the 1600 schedule was the MORE Freedom 250 where the 2 Wards would drive together. Early in the event BUD would have to replace a broken torsion bar and hand the car over to Mike, who came from the back of the pack to reach the final step of the podium. For the 5th MORE outing both Wards would compete in the 1600 car and take home the win. It was at the final MORE event, the Holiday 200, where the BW motorsports 1600 car would clinch the MORE 1600 championship after a strong second place finish. Michael "BUD" Ward would head to Laughlin for the final Pro-9 event, the SNORE Rage at the River, and come home with the gold medal and the Pro-9 championship. We would like to thank all of our crew members that put in all of their time and efforts into the racing program and we want them to know that we wouldn't be able to do it without them. We also want to thank all of the fine companies that have supported us and provided us with only the best of parts. With the closing of the 2011 racing season, BW motorsports is already setting it's sights on future races and look forward to seeing everyone out in the desert soon. Happy Holidays and all the best for the new year! Michael "BUD" Ward #907&1673. BW motorsports 2011 MORE 1600 and Pro-9 Champions.
