No enclosed trailers in the hot pits? Serious? That rules and out half of your racers pit plans

The reason for this is to create safety in the pits. Your pit will be 100 feet from the course and then directly behind (150 feet from course) will be your motorhome/enclosed trailer. Anyone not pitting your vehicle remains safely out of the hot pit.

Alright, thanks for the explanation.

I can always see the safety side, however I can also imagine all the added foot traffic for added in a rush across the 25' lane in the dark and everyone with their radio speakers blaring so they can hear for their car coming in....
Not every one has NASCAR head set setups, ok, yes I do.... but only crew chief has.
Soap box away.

We have been working with the BLM for the past 2 years trying to develop a main pit management plan that keeps the racers happy and the BLM happy while providing a safe environment for everyone involved. It has evolved every race and after the last race there was issues with children and non-crew members hanging out in the "Hot Pit" and hiding in the trailer or box van when BLM or MORE staff drove by. The BLM took pictures so I have a hard time arguing with them about it. Having box vans and enclosed trailers in the "Hot Pit" also created a large sight blockage for anyone in the "Cold Pit" as well as the MORE and BLM monitors. As a result box vans and enclosed trailers are not permitted in the "Hot Pit" anymore. They can be parked 25' away in the cold pit behind the yellow flags providing access to toolboxes, air compressors, etc... during the race.

Makes sense now. Love the Sketchup model. Crazy that they had dump can in their file warehouse

BLM rules, we gotta live with um.....
Of course this is night race and no one is going to see anyways from cold pits. Need to add lights to the picture LOL

Hi-vis vests??? Is this strictly because it's a night race or is this a permanent rule? When did OSHA take over desert racing?

The High Vis stuff has been a MORE requirement for awhile now, 18 months or so.

I imagine the "high vis" requirement is also so the BLM can easily spot if a person does not belong in the pits without checking every individual for a wrist band.

Cody is there any way possible we can make an exception for box trucks in the hot pit? A lot of us depend on our box trucks for pitting and especially with the next 2 races at night, lighting is gonna be an issue.

Sorry guys. No Exceptions. The box van can be backed up to the yellow flags and will only be 25' away. I realize this is an inconvenience but we have to adapt if we want to keep racing on BLM managed lands.
