One more Mint 400 girl photo. The quality of the studio photo's used in this series show's one more angle of the "no expense spared" by the Mint Hotel to put on these races.

Anyone notice the name of one of those Mint Girls? Austin Powers! She's definitely better looking than Mike Myers.

Thanks for posting Mike. I loved reading the names of class 8 guys. I have heard of a bunch of them, but I have never seen or known of when or where they ran.

Heck, I just looked at all the names and I know of about 1/3 of them.

Oh man, car #902. That just might be the year I did a hot night lap on short notice in that thing. Jean and Judy were at least a foot shorter than I was. A little cramped but not bad at all and it ran like a top. I think it had a Jerry Lawless motor. Pretty sure that was the year, anyway it was a blast!

My uncle Jack and my dad just finished that car for the 'Challenger" class.. They had watercooled shocks on that thing to keep the shocks from fading. Worked really well until the pump gave out..
The next race out everyone had them.

I think my first Mint was 83. I remember sliding wrist bands on because you had to be 16 and I was only 15. All this to ride in the old HDRA class 11 baja bugs. There were over 40 of them a couple years, and over 100 1600 cars, because they had to change the numbers on the ones over number 1699. Anyone know what year the first challenger cars (now class 9) raced? We won the first year of class 9 and the two previous years in class 11. I think it was over 16 hours to finish in these cars.
