Well, it was a bit of a bummer weekend. Got to Vegas early Friday, decided to get the trailer out to our spot on the east end of Jean dry lake. Wasn't sure what to expect with all the recent rain, but headed to Jean. Got to Knights Ranch Rd, and the lake bed didn't look too bad. Started heading east onto the bed and found some sketchy wet and muddy sections and towards our check point, there was some standing water. After nearly getting stuck a couple times, covering the trailer and truck with mud, buried the trailer getting into our check and decided this is our spot. Unhooked the truck, headed for Fremont to pick up our gear and check out contingency. Get to registration and Donald informs us that the Jean lake bed is shut down and he is re-assigning us to help at the stop check at the 2 lane bridge at the start/finish. Went back and dug out the trailer, moved it to Primm, and found our check point is a forest of cones in a 25 MPH zone, like watching an off road vehicle parade on the street from my front yard. Suffice it to say, not the ideal spot for some great action shots. On another note, never done a stop check for a BITD event. I've done just about everything else, and can add stop check to my list. Mad respect to those that run stop checks, it's a lot more work than I ever expected. To add to the excitement we had cross traffic and had to stop incoming traffic to allow the right of way to outgoing. You eat a lot of dust, and there are very few breaks, especially with cars coming and going. On my feet most of the day, so huge props to those few that man the stop checks.
Here's a few shots I got from Saturday, nothing too exciting. I wasn't able to pick up the camera on Sunday, so here's some of what I got of the bikes and limiteds.
