My Wife's Powder Puff Dream Request

My name is Paul Billings and my wife, Amanda is a 3 1/2 year breast cancer thriver and has a request we hope can be fulfilled. We have always been a desert family since our first visit to Ocotillo Wells in 2010. Her dream for this year is to either ride with or co-drive with someone in the MORE Powder Puff Race Glen Helen. Class doesn't matter. Our 2 kids and us have always gone to the desert and love riding but the past 3+ years we haven't been able to go as much due to her treatments. She just saw that the race was coming up and thought that it would be awesome to see if there was someone out there willing to give her a run. She has not allowed cancer to dictate her life, but rather lives her life to the fullest. She hopes that next year she will be able to race her SXS in the Powder Puff Race.

What do you all think?? Can someone make her dream come true??

My wife Amanda and I just talked with Julie tonight and she is an amazing person to allow Amanda to experience this. I can't say thank you enough and hope to see everyone out there.

And maybe if she loves it we'll be in our own car next year.

First time was 1986 doing a world cruise stationed on USS Halsey, CG 23. Was leaving the gulf the night the USS Stark got hit.

Last time was the final cruise of USS Harry W Hill. DD 986 in '97

Still riding Sprucans (DD 964, last one still floating) in my current job.

Awesome. My first rossing wasn't until 1999. Retired a couple years ago. Also as an FCC (CIWS Type). I'm down at 32nd St playing in 3m. Small world brother.

I was a 55B terrier guy as a FTM. The Crusiers went away due to the Aegis ships coming out so I moved on to NATO SeaSparrow and Sprucans. I left San Dog in '98 and headed north to Port Hueneme. Retired up here.

Look up Self Defense Test Ship. I run the Combat Systems on there.

I served for 15 years in San Dog. Hence how I got hooked up with the Baja Fools. Started with my Cousin.

What a wonderful opportunity I had to sharing our awesome Offroad community with a great family. Amanda had never been in an OffRoad race car before and she loved it. The powder puff race is all about bringing awareness to breast cancer so what better way was there to share it with a survivor. Amanda and her husband Paul now have the racing bug after hanging out with our group all weekend. More racing and Jennifer did a fantastic job this weekend at Glen Helen running the 13th annual powder puff race. October is breast cancer awareness month so everyone remember to check your wife or girl friends Tata’s to feel for any irregularities and remind the women in your life to have an annual mammogram.

It is with great sadness that I must report that god will soon have another beautiful angel named Amanda Billings. Amanda has been battling Breast Cancer for the last three years and yesterday she was placed on hospice. My year of knowing Amanda has changed me and I am so happy for the time I had with her. The powderpuff race that More racing is having on November 2nd in Barstow will be especially meaningful for the off road race community. I challenge everyone to open your second seat up to someone experiencing breast cancer whose only wish is to ride in a race car. It will change your life. I ask for everyone in the off road community to pray for Paul Billings and their children tonight.
