Need Input on desert Race Helmets

I’ll looking to purchase helmets for our race team. Will be racing SNORE, MORE, and may cherry pick a BITD race or two over the next few seasons. BITD is most stringent and requires SA2015 helmets. Question is how long will SA2015 requirement be in place? Current Impact & other helmet manuf are SA2015, when will they come out with SA2020? When will rules change to require SA2020?

I’m trying to avoid purchasing new helmets that are going to be out of spec shortly thereafter.

I’m looking for a helmet, currently don’t have one. I’m thinking I should try and borrow a helmet until SA2020 are out. Seems silly to dole out those funds right before the SA2020s come out.

Per the Snell website they are not allowing manufacturers to sell SA2020 helmets until Oct 1, 2020. So yeah, buying a helmet now is like buying a 5-year old helmet.

If you bought a helmet now could the manufacturer re-certify it afterwards so it can be used in races beyond 2025?

Sure would be nice if the promoters would wait until Oct with the new requirements. They could blame it on Snell.

There are websites that rent out safety equipment, helmets, suits, neck restraints, etc. If you're going to buy a 2015, wait until the 2020's come out, 2015 will all go on discount. Don't buy a 2010. Pretty sure the helmets can't be recertified, design requirements change.
