Not yet. I would assume the dates will be announced on 9/1 like last year, and registration starting on 9/15

Would you mind forwarding the email. Info is not on the site so the info is not clear to all. Thanks

Well I see damn near every room in town is already booked for most of the nights. Gee I wonder how that happened. Its almost like some entity knew there would be high demand and pre-booked every room so they could re-sell them at a big markup.

This was on the email I (and everyone else) received announcing the date:

For registered teams that need help securing accommodations, BajaVoyager, a leader in desert race support and personalized concierge services throughout Baja, has been chosen as the exclusive provider for accommodations for the 2018 YOKOHAMA NORRA Mexican 1000 race. This is the fourth consecutive year that BajaVoyager has played an important role in logistical support for the event. Since 1989, BajaVoyager has been coordinating and organizing travel, events, and accommodations for tourists and off-road racers. Make sure you make your reservations as soon as possible. More information can be found at www.bajavoyager.com.

It is such a coincidence that the minute the dates are released most of the hotels in Loreto are sold out, and a number of the La Paz ones as well.

Maybe someone can tell me why we need an exclusive provider of accommodations? Anyone can go online and easily book any of those rooms with ease. This isn't 1989 and the only way you can get a room is via spanish-speaking carrier pigeon. The only benefit anyone gets from this deal is the nice ability to pay way more for a room than necessary.

How much is Baja Voyager marking up the rooms over what they would normally charge knowing a big race is coming through town(s)?

We tried to book rooms about 2 months ago in the larger hotels and they were already booked for the race. It's a no-win because they save the dates for the "concierge service" providers so far in advance. There's so many options without having to book hotels each night I've kind of given up on it.

In San Felipe we stayed at Club de Pesca and it was awesome camping under the shoreline palapas. It's $20, they have their own market, showers, and you can easily walk to the event central at El Cortez (and even stagger back!)

BOLA we got a house this year but we were still had sand in our ears. Having a kitchen and a chef there from our partner team Kaysinger Racing was great though!.

We have a great time sleeping under the stars in Loreto. Just do a sink bath and you're good.

We get rooms in La Paz and Cabo where they're plentiful.

So disappointed to realize that we're in the same situation as last year again. I've tried to contact BajaVoyager via their website and of course have heard nothing.

Our favorite hotel in La Paz is booked up already (that hasn't happened in the past).

Well, I have to say that once I emailed Baja Voyager directly per the recommendation above, I heard back quickly and we got rooms that we wanted in Loreto and La Paz. Our team member who usually pays for the rooms says they weren't that much more than in the past.
