I like others have crew members that cannot afford to go through the qaurentine process when they return so they have to back out, I may be able to put together a small support crew to make it happen. while you won't be able to have the gatherings each night, my next question/concern revolves around obtaining food at night especially in BofLA where there aren't a lot choices, and the fact that's part of the crew wristband cost. Is there a plan, even if it's take out for nightly meals? What ever NORRA decides, it will be a tough call, We're behind you you no matter what.
Good question, we are planning on food and beer to take out for banded crews and teams, we will have designated places for teams to pick up their food and beer to go in San Felipe, Bola, and Loreto.

The awards are still a maybe but we will find out by the beginning of April if the Cabo Authorities will allow it or not, a lot depends on Covid Cases.

That helps a lot for planning.

Eliseo,
It would be good to publish the current requirements for return from Mexico. There may be misconceptions about the regulations. A plan for a testing location would be good as well. Probably help allay some concerns. As always thank you and your staff for all the hard work.

Any word on Mag 7? Will they be able to have enough staff to make it for fuel for cars and trucks too?
Mike Pearlman spoke to Bill Thompson from Mag 7 and they are ready for the event with full staff as always, I am currently working on locations based on the new 2021 course with the additions and as soon as I have all locations will post maps and pit mileage for logistics.

I have been in Cabo since Tuesday and am on a plane headed home (Feb 7).

We got our free Covid-19 nostril test at our hotel and the results were ready in about 1 hour. At the airport they verified the Covid test paperwork at the customer service desk and there was an easy to complete form stating you either don't have Covid or you had Covid and recovered.

It was a piece of cake.

Left for Cabo driving Jan 29th and arrived back to San Diego yesterday. Some restaurant and Hotel restrictions but not too bad. More concerning... The BajaXL rally group of about 40 vehicles was stopped in San Ignacio and received a police escort back to the Baja Sur border towns of Viscaino and Guerrero Negro after being told they wouldn't be allowed to continue their rally into Baja Sur because of covid restrictions. NORRA officials need to make sure they have the permits to conduct the event from the Baja Norte and Sur Departments of Health.

We would never START a Rally without the proper permits to finish it, our reputation and the safety of our racers are the most important aspects we always care for.

2 weeks ago we had meetings with the same authority that stopped the Baja XL and they told us no permits for January, February, and March or until the COVID indicator goes back to Yellow in Baja Sur, also instructed us to remove all people gatherings from the rally like crowded finish lines in Loreto, La Paz and Cabo and No Awards Party, asked us to show a Covid Mitigation Plan for the event including COVID testing or proof of vaccination for all the attendees, racers and staff in order to have 80% chance of being approved to do race last week of April in 2021.

These are complicated times for all race events but if you do things right from the very beginning results have to be positive IMO.

We at NORRA are going forward as instructed by them and hoping the COVID situation in Baja gets better in the next months, we will keep all racers posted on how this situation develops, in the meantime, we are working on the adjustments to the format and schedule due to the COVID Mitigation Plan we have to comply with.

Regards
Eliseo Garcia
Rally Director

I have not done NORRA (yet), but seeing the dedication from NORRA organizers gives me confidence that the series will continue to thrive and be a great event despite these recent challenges.

Thank you to the entire NORRA team for your continued efforts in bringing us a great event!

Here's to hoping I can make it to NORRA soon and join in on the action!

Eliseo thank you. I have been to the vet and got my shots. Copy of my shot record will be with me. Also have note from doc that I’ve had and recovers from Covid. Also positive antibody test. I encourage everyone who can do it get the vaccine. Unfortunately not everyone qualifies yet. Check the regs on proof of Covid recovery. Might be sufficient for NORRA needs.

We unfortunately will not be able to go to this years 1000. I have a block of rooms all the way down the pensula including Bahia de LA listed in the classified. If interested please contact me. If the event is cancelled I will buy them back and use them for 2021if you want. I can only get a refund if the event is cancelled.

We are ready, but on hold. With company to come back to, I will have to quarantine until a negative test in the US, and Los Angeles (don't know about other area is a mandatory 10 day stay at home order; (translates to, that I am screwed if an employee gets covid, as I will get blamed if I violate the rules).

I want this mess over, and want to be in baja; I haven't been able to go to my home in Loreto for 2.5 months due to rules of covid.

Los Angeles County fair just canceled...... That is huge, and the event was scheduled for September. Millions of dollars event.

I hope, I hope, I hope we can go.

Tech fun? Registration? Driver meeting? Results? Check ins each morning? BOLA, where where where to eat and sleep away from the groups?

Please, what is the serious game plan for life and safety?

Again, we WANT TO GO HAVE FUN, Happiest race on earth?
