As I am sure most of you have heard, SCORE will be splitting Primm into two races this year.
We are very excited to hear this, as we have fallen victim to slower vehicles in the dust and
ripped corners off our car at well over 100 mph two of the last three Primm races.

Anyway, the logic used in determining what classes run together seems interesting
to me, but at least Sal is trying to make loop events more safe to run. Races will be:

Saturday at 6:00a
4 Laps--Class 10, SCORE Lite, Class 5
3 Laps--Class 1-2/1600, Class 5/1600, Class 9
2 Laps--Class 11, Sportsman Buggy, Sportsman Truck

Saturday at 2:00p
4 Laps--TT, Class 1, Protruck
3 Laps--Class 8, Class 3, Class 3I, Class 7, Class 7s, Stock Full
2 Laps--Stock Mini

Some classes are really getting ripped off on laps, let's see what everyone thinks.
Tear it up fellas...

Well that makes for a long day for our team since we're racing a Class 1 and a Class 10. seems like the 10's have been running up front with the 1's lately (ie chris harold 4th overall? at henderson). Don't understand Sal's logistics there. But then again, It's Sell Fish I mean Sal Fish.
I think he should trade the protrucks for the 10's. I know of a few 7s guys that love to nerf protrucks before they pass them....lol

Well I think that is stupid that us 7s,7o guys have to run less laps. If he does that I think that the entry fees should be a little cheaper as well. I am not going to pay the whole entry fee if I do not get to the whole race(4 laps) . They should also change the race name too, if they do that. Instead of the primm 300. It should be the Primm 200. That is bull [censored] I prep for a whole race I want to race the whole race.same way with paying.

All the 2 and 3 lap groups should run together at 6am. Then have all the four lap classes run together at 2pm. I agree though, the 2 and 3 lap classes are getting screwed AGAIN! They pay the same entry fee! ( I won't start that one again)

Well Henderson was a lot of fun in the heat of the day! Why not do it twice in a row? Slower cars are a part of lap races in any form of motor sports. Dust or not, it's part of the game.

Maybe they should change the name from "SCORE" to SCREWED". The shorter races for slower classes have always been about keeping checkpoint workers happy. 99% of the drivers in every class would like to run the whole race, thats what it is all about, but not to Sal. Its about getting back to the Hotel in time for a late margarita and some hot slots! Hey Sal, if you want to promote shortcourse races, just do it! there are plenty of promoters waiting for you to open some dates up!

If your gonna go, go BIG

The problem with running all the fast classes on one day is most likely no one will watch the second day of racing with the slower classes. Just like at Laughlin, the big crowds are around for the faster classes and the place is empty for the slow ones. If this is the way it will be run I would have to say Sal is trying to make sure that they are able to keep people around for both days so the Casinos can make as much money as possible from us and Sal can get his kick back that he always says he never receives. It’s definitely best for the race to split up the faster and slower cars, but he didn't. He has fast and slow cars on both days. There still will be the problem of the faster cars running into the slower ones in the dust.

Everybody will be sitting at the tree bar drinking Friday nite thinking...this is great we can get shaiity all nite and not worry about missing the race because all the trucks start in the afternoon...sounds good to me but I think all vehicles should run all laps.

Cry for change, then cry about change. What is up with that? Maybe the change needs to be fine tuned, but I feel splitting the lap races is a good idea for safety. I wish I had a 10 car, race in the morning and get a good prerun in then blast off in my truck. When you split the race for safety the times for both races need to be shortened that would be the reason for less laps. If you feel your class can make the laps in the time then ask Sal to give you more laps. Some classes have less laps at Laughlin and nobody seems to cry about it. Maybe the fast cars should take off in the morning and have a 6 hour time limit and be done by noon. Then the slower cars take off at noon and have a 8 hour time limit. The only challenge with less time limit is if you do have a problem it is tough to make the time limit and get those valuable finishing points. I feel Laughlin is the toughest race of the year because if you have any problems at all you don't finish. Sal fine tune the fast and the slow classes. Give all classes 8 hours to finish. Start the fast cars first with 8 hour limit no new laps after noon. Start the slower classes at 12.30 and there is no need to clear the course if there is a few stragling fast cars on the course that have until 2pm to finish. The slower classes get until 8.30 pm to finish and everyone is happy. Trophy Truck, Class 1, Class 8, Class 10, and Protruck in Group 1 and the rest in Group 2. The lap thing, let the class majority decide. I know I would have loved to shorten Henderson to four laps in Trophy Truck, that last lap was hell. I would rather start in the morning so I can leave my lights at home. I feel there will be enough nite driving at Baja in November. Stop whining and pick up the phone, Sal has always had time to talk to me any time I call. See you all at the Primm race, we will be gunning for Riviera and there lead on the points. Sal Fish thanks for the change less dust and less cars to pass will make this a great race. The only problem I see is that my Father the Weatherman will be awful tired at the end of the race, but he needs the practice for Baja! Good racing and Goodbye.

There are times to cry about racing, I always wish that there were more laps. Sure it makes for a long day but at least you are getting the fun out of it. It is totaly different when you have somebody preping your car or truck. Because then, you just show up with your helmet in hand with your pecker streaching your fire suit. See we little people do not have that kind of money to go fast, and most of are doing it for fun. We put all we can spare from our income, to go racing. So having the races like they should be, without taking laps away from us little people, is the way it should be. I know I am not the only one to say that I work my ass off to go racing, everybody does even the rich people. But like I said before if Sal wants to make us run less laps I think they entry fee should be cheaper. I disagree with the laughlin race too, but it is alot harder on the cars and trucks to run like that in short times. I personaly would like to have laughlin like it was when it first started. But that is my too cents. And I am not trying to start [censored]....For I am only speaking my rights...... See you at the races....

Splitting up the fast and slow classes is a good idea. That dry lake at the start is SCARY. However, I came to race. Three laps is a downer. I think Scott has a better idea with the faster classes going first and being done when the slower cars are on the course. Give the slower classes more time to run. Hey, if I have to run lights I will. It will not be so hot at night!.

I personally agree with, and like the new change. I think it is for the better. I believe Sal and SCORE took a step in the right direction personally.

Regarding "keeping checkpoint workers happy", it is not about us. It's never been about us. I've worked for SCORE, MDR, La Rana, MTEG, AMA Supercross, SCCA ProRally, for 10 years, so I am qualified to comment on working at races. First of all, it's not for the bucks. (there is no money in it). It's to be INVOLVED in racing. That's basically it. To experience a thousand mile race, the only way is to get out there in the weeds and dirt, to be eye to red eye with obnoxious drunken "fans", to enjoy the thrill of being arrested by a Federale who wants to stop the race, to see how long you can stay awake on a dark Mexican highway while directing traffic, to be threatened by a chase team after their car blew through the checkpoint and sent you diving out of the way. The percs include picking up other peoples trash, pounding rebar, spending the weekend before the race marking the course, answering every stupid question you can imagine during the race; like "when is it over?", (it's over when they don't go by anymore), "can we go on the course?", (sure, either direction, just not today), or "does it hurt when they crash?", (no, not at all, I highly recommend it)..... Trust me on this, we are the last people that are consulted regarding the race schedule. The best way to come to an agreement would be for my good friends John and Gabe and Klaus to put together a poll for possible Primm schedules. (hint hint hint)... I would suggest that every class with limited laps get together and decide as a class how much of a beating they wish to endure. The promoters don't gain a lot from having everybody break, because it doesn't really encourage you to come back and race again, but every courseworker I've ever met has the utmost respect for the driver who just won't give up trying to get to the finish line. To me, those are the guys this sport is really about, like seeing the Andrews truck finish on a shredded tire and puking trans at the last MDR race, or watching Curt Le Duc win San Felipe this year in an old class 8 Cherokee, the Pemex Special.

I agree with Scott, Twillis and Jimmy8. This is for the better of the sport, BUT, instead of gripping about it here, call Sal and talk to him about it in a professional manner. Call SCORE and ask for SAL, if he's not there they will give you his voice mail and he will call you back. I've never had a problem with getting a hold of him. If you race in one of the slower classes, get your guys together and ask Sal what you can do about it....on a professional level. Maybe there is a reason for the laps...maybe not. Find out from the source. My .02 cents.

I do not disagree with the splitting up of faster cars and slower cars. I just disagree with the cutting the laps. I am with Bruce if we have to run lights then we do. And It will be alot cooler aswell. I have been hit buy the faster cars and it is not feal good. So Sal can do what he wants aslong as he does not cut the laps, that would be a dumb mistake....
