I’m looking into lodging for the mint 400. Is the Primm valleys complex a decent place to stay or would we be better off looking closer to Vegas? Judging by reviews it’s hit or miss. Any insider experience would be greatly appreciated.

We have stayed at the Golden Nugget in Vegas for tech and contingency and then moved to primm for the race.

Primm is a shithole....but when your tired of standing around at the race you can go in and take a break.

On race weekend you'll be happy you picked Primm. Buffalo Bills is kinda a dump but its location for this event is great. The "Tree Bar" there is a very popular drinking spot for race teams.

Nothing in the Primm area is as nice as the big casinos in Vegas though.

I called to book a room for a non race weekend (doing a moto ride) and they now charge a $18.00 per night "Resort Fee". I mentioned how big of a "poop Hole" Buffalo Bills was and she said "yeah, I know, but that's the deal".

You may or may not be surprised how low your "casino level of play" can be to get your room comped.

I remember booking rooms at BB, getting the room keys, keys don’t work, we go to the concierge and Now the rooms are at whiskey Pete’s. Primm is it’s own world.

All the Primm hotels are the same level of quality imo. After being in the desert all day though I don’t need Vegas level accommodations.

The M Resort is the first place you come to in Vegas and is incredibly nice, inexpensive and has good restaurants. It’s only 15-20min from Jean so it’s a good location.

We stayed at Buffalo Bills last year. The place is kinda a dump, but serviceable if you aren't picky. We had some issues with our room keys that took several trips to the front desk over the course of an hour to get resolved. The biggest problem is there's really nowhere good to eat there, so again, if you're picky at all, you're going to Vegas to eat anyway.

But yes, on race day, nothing beats going to your room to take a dump, or get a nap, or whatever you want, and avoid the race day traffic hassle.

For the past couple years we have stayed at the Golden Nugget on Thursday night to catch contingency and tech the next morning. As for the race, we would leave Vegas Friday evening after contingency and head to Primm. The room at Buffalo Bills was not too bad after a full day of contingency and to have an early start Saturday morning. Valet, check in and parking was always backed up from what I remember, by the time you get settled in its time to hit the sack. On race day its just a simple walk to the back lot for the start. After the race a good amount of race teams/fans are at Buffalo Bills Tree Bar (always a fun time). I'm fine staying at Primm Saturday night rather than making my way back to Vegas, especially if you had some drinks during the day. In all, not that many hours were even spent in the room.

As for food, its pretty basic nothing special. 2 restaurants and a small food court. I say if your wanting more service/accommodations the South Point will easily meet your needs.

If you have a commercial drivers license you can get a very good room rate at Whiskey Petes
