Hey all,
We have a random start problem with our ecotec. Sometimes It will turn over forever and not start. Sometimes it will fire right up. Sometimes it will back fire. Almost like it has a problem figuring out TDC? It’s a stock motor using stock ecu flashed with a new Map.

We tried to relearn the crank position sensor, but it won’t relearn because of some error codes... I can’t remember what they are , I’ll look tonight when I get home.

I should mention it has done this since day one. New harness, ecu, and junkyard motor.

Any info in where to start would be appreciated.

Check grounds first. I've used jumpers to battery in the past to speed the process up. If harness has been spliced using butt connectors get rid of those. I've seen all kinds of weird codes thrown due to missing grounds and poor Wiring connections. If you have cam sensor codes fix those too. Crank will not sync up if cam codes exist.
