remote radiator and line sizes

I'm putting my radiator in the front of a VW Thing. The motor is a 2.5l Subaru. Any ideas on what size lines I should use? I was thinking 1 1/4" aluminum, maybe 1 1/2"??

I would use tube that is the same diameter as the inside of the radiator hoses. That worked fine on my V8 Ranger.

Just make the suction side (return to pump) one size bigger than the output side. Maybe 1 1/2 and 1 1/4.
