In the world of muscle cars we all have herd the term Resto Mods before and its clear to all gear heads what it is.

A 60-70s or even 80s type muscle car not only restored (Resto) but also modified (Mod) to modern specs.
Typically its the old Mustang/Camaro with the LS engine treatment, Brembo brakes, exotic 5+ gear transmission.
Lighbulbs become LED's and Sparco gets you seated. Shaved doors handles, 20 layers of modern paint, wheels, tires etc.

We see them at SEMA all day long and for me the true highlight of that show.

Capturing the nostalgia but making it work close to modern supercar specs.

Model-A on the outside... TESLA Model-S covertly driving it.

Let's nerd out on Retro-Mods Off-Road style.

Ol skool: Rick Pewe's post war Ford F-1, Hemet Farmer Jim(?) Venable's old hay truck that some feed guy's kid drove, Nil's Tomlinson's DirTrix 1965 F-100 that Mark Beeler used later to dominate BITD's Class 8000, and that VW pickup that ran in Class 5 (IIRC) decades ago. ALL 80's-built, and precursors to today's resto mods.

Sorry, can't post pics, all my photos are Tri-X negatives, but you can see most if not all at the DUSTY TIMES archives.

I may be slightly Biased buuuut this ones kinda cool. We've been racing this truck since 2007, started as a full frame 1450 truck we built in our garage and we've just been tinkering on it ever since.

And the new one we are working on.
This will be a 1995 F150, not as old but still oldish haha the chassis was built by John and Andy over at Eversen Performance.

R.E.F.'s Greg Holman's mid-engined F-100 certainly fits the category.

`Sorry, no cigar for off road.... I picture a Resto Mod as a '57 Chevy Nomad with Power Brakes, Power Steering, LS motor, and a huge wiring harness to the CPU....

I'd like to think mine is "Resto", while I continue to work on the "Mod" part. Former 7s race truck from the hay day of Ford Factory support in the mid to late 90's.
