Just out of curiosity, since it's almost 300 miles between Reno and Elko and you don't seem to be on the 80, where was the truck actually at? I probably could have been there in 10-14 hours.

looks like the Great Humboldt River, longest river system in the west.
I'm 1 hour south of Reno

Looks as if the truck was out scouting fishing spots not working.. Nice clean h2o, 56 to 62 degree temp.
Perhaps a stonefly hatch. Nice place to get stuck.
