Returning to Canada with modified truck?

Hi all.

I was referred to this site to hopefully get an answer. I have a 15 yrs old Canadian truck that I'd like to get modified to 4x4 in the States. Reading some of the CBSA (Canadian custom) stuff, they say Canadian vehicle modified in the US will not be allowed re-entry. Since the truck is over 15 yrs old RIV shouldn't be involved, right?

Isn't there a way to do it right aside from just sneaking back in without declaring it? I've talk to many people and haven't got a straight answer yet. Some say declare everything and you get one month to get a vehicle inspection done and if it passes you're gold. Others say no can't do.

Anyone with experience on this?

Thanks a bunch,
David

Don't tell them at the border it was modified in the United States. All the work was done in Alberta.
