Hey Kris thats some great footage you got there... Looked like you almost took a 37 BFG to the head there a few times. Watch yourself there, my dad and I almost got nailed by Lonny Helmbolt back in 97 at Laughlin. Then again in Pahrump in 99. Sascha used to beg us to "GET BACK FENTONS" But we didnt listen. Just keep up the good camera work. Talk at you later, Brian.
I love to get right on the track and watch and film. At the the last two BITD races I got to do it twice from spectating at the pits. At the Vegas 200 at pit C it was a long stretch of flat open course where every truck would just get hauling ass. On the first lap we almost got ran over by Kyle, Damon, and TSCO, but it was awesome. At Parker the main pit was easily a couple miles long and was in a dry lake bed right behind town, the trucks got going sooo fast on that part of the course because it was so long and straight. When Troy in the Truggy came by on his last lap, he didn't pit and he was just floored and their helocopter was over head, but behind him. I was almost standing right on the track and when he came by at full bore it almost knocked me over, then one of the fabricators of the team we were with looked at me and said "pretty sad when the helocopter can't keep up with the race car, huh?"
It is the biggest rush to get that close to the track and the cars. Pretty dangerous, but about the funnest thing I have done at a race! And I will do it again too.
DIRT'S FOR RACING, PRERUNNERS ARE FOR GETTING THERE!
Good job on the video. I can tell you were north of Zoo Road I think? Where was the truck fire relative to where you were filming? I don't remember seeing it when I went by in class 10. Did it not start until we went by?
