SCORE San Felipe race!!

We need some more 1/2-1600 cars to race San Felipe. You still have three weeks. The course is different this year. They are running more north of town. It's a fun race. Try and get some more guys into it.

Not to stir the pot too much, but this just one of many of the backlashes of pro1600 (or pro whatever) combined with the laughlin/parker scheduling screw up...

There is no reason for a 1600 to race SCORE at this point unless you are one of the few that made Laughlin. Points are out, cost is prohibitive and there is a 1600 pro race right around the corner that is 400 miles long with larger payouts.

This is where we will separate the promoters that want to push their races compared to simply waiting for all the races to join up to a race because the promoter is the 'elite off-road racing group'. I bet next year, you will see more interaction between the Pro groups and the promoters (at least I hope we do, or else the promoters will disappear and the Pro groups will be left with organizing races for their respective divisions.

San Felipe is personally my favorite race of the year which is reason enough to race there. Remember we are'nt out here to get rich.

I didn't mean anything personal by my previous comment nor was I judging the race itself - I hope for the sake of off-road racing it is packed!!!

I hope all off-road races are packed for that matter.

I was only commenting on the reason why I felt that attendance was low for 1600 in this race...

Re:New Coarse

Kash

Please give us anymore insight regarding the coarse for this year. Is it going north to the bottom of Laguna Salada and then back south through Borego? What do you know?

Re:New Coarse

BFG just sent me an e-mail stating that they will release a map tomorrow. I will post a link when that happens. My understanding is its similar to the 99' race. West to the lake bed, north towards Borrego and then ultimately paralleling the highway back towards town. Could be wrong though.

just in case those of you out there havent been to san felipe, it is by far the funnest of all the score races
to
attend or spectate. aside from race costs its not to expensive for a quiet little fishing town and the race takes place the same time as a lot of college campus' spring break. which means party time.

Re:New Coarse

This is straight from the BFG site:
The 2002 San Felipe race will be different from last year. It will be about 225 miles and will cover territory both North and South of San Felipe.
UPDATE: SCORE is marking the race course in preparation of the weekend's pre running. They are making a couple of minor course corrections. The map will be posted by Wednesday (2/13/02) on this site and SCORE's. Tulips will be posted as soon as they are completed.

Kash,

Are the maps out yet?

Sometimes the cache on our network produces old pages and I am blind to new posts on same.
