I found this on the Score website. Sounds like qualifying is gone.

• Baja 500 / Major Event - Effective 2018
• Tijuana SCORE Desert Challenge / /Event
• Baja 1000 / Major Event
Summary: Finishing order from the below Events will set the starting order for the corresponding following Major Events:
• San Felipe 250 finishing order sets starting order for Baja 500.
• Tijuana SCORE Desert Challenge finishing order sets starting order for Baja 1000.
• Both the San Felipe and Tijuana SCORE Desert Challenge starting order will be set by the customary SCORE starting order draw.

Start position will be based on finish position for this event. In case of a tie for a start position, a draw will determine start position. Stage 2 - All DOR/ROR in
Stage 2 drawing will start behind the DOR/ROR in Stage 1. The DOR/ROR receiving the lowest starting number in Stage 2 drawing will start behind the last DOR/ROR in the Stage 1. The balance of DOR/ROR in the Stage 2 draw will be placed in the normal and customary SCORE starting order according to their draw number for the Stage 2 group.

It says right there that it only effects classes that are not scheduled to qualify... so the classes that qualify, will still qualify!!!
