Well that is great...do note that Bilstein and Southwest RallyCup Series is working on something that will really intice off-roaders to use their pre-runners in 2010. So be prepared for an update on that soon on www.southwestrallyseries.com I heard that you ran that race and kudos for you...I am the series director for Southwest RallyCup and I am trying to work on getting more off-road guys to use their pre-runners for the SWRC...by probably doing a special contingecy for pre-runners, etc. Which means a special SWRC class called the Bilstein Class...I will have more of that update as I said before in a couple of weeks. Plus we have over $400.00's from the SWRC going for the 1st and 2nd place winners to be divided up depending upon how many classes are represented.... Now back on topic. I would suggest that you go to the www.rallyamerica.com website go to downloads section on the righthand side of the website and you can download the rulebook...does not cost you a thing on that part. Go to article 5 and article 6 that deals with Required Safety Equipment and Scrutineering. Read that portion.... and pay particular attention to Article 5.5 "Rollover Protection" which safety cages homologated by the FIA or a recognized ASN. But go to the last few portions of the PDF version on the website and it is Apendix 1 Roll Cage Standards for exisiting construction which are for existing vehicles only... this will tell you about sill bars under 6.f which does say..."These bars shall be located as close to the horizontal and as low as practical, and in no case be more then 6" above or 4" Inward from the lower door sills.... If your sill bars are more then that... then I suggest you e-mail Mike Hurst who is the National/Regional Tech Director and Competition Director of Rally America(he use to be crew chief for Dave Pearson) and tell him about your past racing resume to determine if you can run in Group 5 which is the unrestricted rally license and if not then Production, Group 2 or Open Light would be the choice and any questions you have about your truck and what they said on your logbook. He will then direct you if you need or do not have to do anything to your pre-runner and the class you compete in...which all of the classes are very competive. Mike will work with you and get you steered in the right direction. Also cc'd along with me when you contact him since I will be the event steward for RA at Seed 9. Tell him you just did a NASA event. His e-mail address is mikehurst@rally-america.com and mine is marymountdenise@ aol.com We have loads of fun at Seed 9 and relax at the Pioneer Saloon which is the tradition for years. We love to have you and other off-road guys at Seed 9 and then to run Desert Storm next year in March. Do note Mike is up at LSPR this weekend the last national event of the series for the season and then he will be back into the office next week to answer all e-mails or give a phone call and leave a message on his voice mail..he will answer that way as well. Keep me posted!!! Denise McMahon Rally America Steward for Seed 9 Rally Series Director- Southwest RallyCup Series Chairperson - Desert Storm and Plan B Rally
