I have heard from a few sources that the standard will have yamaha and the high horsepower will have Z1. I personally do not care for a 300hp golf cart unless it will be super reliable. So yamaha is good for me.

So it will still be a Wildcat XX with Speed goodies, turbo and in a 4 seat version. I was under the impression they were going to use a motor based off the Z1.

Not sure where you heard this? Considering you have a deposit for one, they gave you no info. I would call Todd Romano if I was you. It’s going to be the same engine in all 2 & 4 seat SpeedUTV’s. The original plan told was the motor was to be based off the Z1. But their own castings, parts & assembly. No idea who supplies the turbo? The difference between the 225 hp & the 300 hp is a Hellkey you can buy from Speed for $1. This key changes the computer mapping & turbo boost. Was said you would also need to run a higher octane fuel to achieve 300 hp. The hell key also voids the warranty once plugged in.

Was also told a 3 speed trans was in development, but it would most likely be a race spec part that you could buy and swap out the CVT system, and not a actual production part sold on the SpeedUTV.

Yamaha motor would make sense as it already been through the CARB cert. process. It would also make it possible for them to deliver units before the end of the year. Bonus is you can get the parts for the motor easily and there are plenty of reliable turbo options. DASA makes the turbo approved kit for Yamaha for the YXZ and that is close to 180hp.

What if they just say F CARB and the ROV listings and sell you a vehicle that must be "Special Construction" in Cali but open OHV in other states, more then 1000cc makes it what a ATV/SandRail/SPCN lots of other categories
Like a sand rail or the other Chinese vehicles that are sold out of state. AZ has all kinds of non-CARB OHV's for sale.

Now that China is on a lockdown with the Coronavirus Robby might have a hard time getting parts for his new Speed X utv
Great excuse for them if they don’t make the Oct-Nov release as deposit holders were promised.

I’d expect much of China to return to business on the 9th. At least that’s what we are still being told.

Apparently the chassis design has been finalized.

I wonder if this camber adjustment will make an appearance. I haven't seen it on a XX, but I could be mistaken.

Do not really car about plastic. Wrap the effer in chicken wire. Engine, trans , steering , cooling , suspension components , skid plates , gussets , brakes , shocks , differentials etc etc. thats a bit more important.

I believe that was from the Wildcat X (RG Edition) that wasn't really produced. He raced one with Max early on and had it out a few times at SST events like SSSS a few years back. It adapted the X rear suspension to a traditional trailing arm as shown.

This is great news that everything design wise is about done. Now the million dollar questions: Which engine will be in these and have you started the CARB certification process?

I recently asked and was told it’s a 2 cylinder Speed Engine roughly based off the Z1 with improvements to support the Turbo and to be in a SXS platform. Was also told it would be CARB certified. I asked if by first production release? They said Yes.

Not sure if the first 500 are considered pre-production releases, or actual production models?

But the good news is this is more info then when I previously asked. At that time they had no answers about Carb or being able to register in Cali. It was suggested that I could register in AZ if not Cali legal.

I remember the Speed guy saying they were going to base the more off the Z1. They must of found a company that can manufacture the motor for them.

It is sounding like the Speedcat will be delivered before the end of the year. My friend that has a deposit on one will be stoked.

I’m guessing the factory in China will also manufacture the engine. They have the ability in-house to cast the parts, including the engine case.

I have heard that China has all the best high tech machine tools you would need...what they do not have is the best metalurgy.
