Does anyone have any recommendations on books for learning about suspensions (4-link A-arm etc) and also about frame/ rollcages? I have seen many books dealing with race cars, but that's about it.

Search previous postings on this topic. This topic has been discussed at least twice in the time I've been here. There are no books specifically on off road suspension design that I'm aware of, but there a couple good ones on road race stuff and all of the same principles apply. Just understand that their goals are different, so the geometry you choose probably won't be the geometry they would choose.

Race Car Vehicle Dynamics is a great book. I'd recommend it along with all of the Carroll Smith Books that Kris mentioned. R.C.V.D. and the Carroll Smith set can be ordered at www.sae.org
