the CORR season opener

what a great weekend of racing for the CORR season opener at Dresser, WI! the new facility was pretty well organized, and provided great viewing for all the fans. no where else on the CORR series can every spectator see every pass, bump, and jump. judging from the fan turnout and response i think we'll see dresser on the CORR schedule for a long time.

the ultra short 1/2 mile track was something new for the CORR drivers, and the racing really resembled the old stadium races. there was never a dull moment with 19 prolites,or 13 Pro-2's on that small of a track.
the results:

PRO-4 johny greaves both days for a 40 to 30 point lead over douglas
PRO-2 dan Vandenhuevel and scott taylor split the wins with dan leading the points 36 to 34
Pro-lite rick huseman and rodney vanerperen split the wins with huseman coming out the points leader.
sporty 2 mike oberg and mike savage split the wins, but both had mechanical problems in the other race leaving don williams in the points lead with a second place finish and a third.

the superlift ford failed to make the show after some missing engine parts were discovered in final assembly,

we made some laps in a borrowed CORR stock truck to keep us in the points chase. this was very dissapointing, but we'll make up for it at antigo in 2 weeks.

Do you have the full results for pro-lite? There are a few California guy's in that class and I wanted to see how they did!

Yup, I thought CORR had a very successful weekend in Dresser, WI. Although
there was a lot of carnage with it being such a small track. As a group,
CORR left a lot of fiber glass and sheet metal on the track, but the fans
loved it. I think there was at least one rollover in each race of each
class both days. The highlight of those had to be Curt LeDuc's endo that
turned into a t-bone hit while he was still vertical. They stopped the
race, righted his truck, and he starts it up, AND DRIVES BACK INTO THE
LINEUP!!!!. Never even went into the hot pits to check for damage, just
went right back to the lineup and took the green flag to finish the second
half of the race and was 3rd place. WOW, now that takes an awful big set
of...

Winners and losers. Obviously, Johnny Greaves was a big winner in the
Pro-4 race both days. He drove like a wild man, and what appeared to be
out of control, but was extremely fast. He came from the back of the pack
twice on Sunday and took the lead when Jason Baldwin broke his left front
off completely. Unfortunately I wasn't all that impressed with Steve
Barlow and Tommy Bradley's performance on Sunday, both in Pro-2. We left
for home before the completion of Mondays races so I don't know how they
ended up for the weekend. Barlow looked real fast in all of the practice
sessions, but didn't have much to show in the race. About the same for
Tommy Bradley, looked like he tour up a bunch of equipment and had a hell
of a time keeping the back end behind him.

Kumho Tire had a great weekend with three wins on Sunday, Van Eperen (sp)
in Pro-Lite, Dan Vanden Heuvel (sp) in Pro-2, and Mike Savage in
Sportsman-2.

And a final note: Rhonda Konitzer finally has a decent power plant in her
hot rod. She was real fast both days and drove up to the front and lead
about half the race on Monday before finishing third.

Look out Antigo, there should be even more new trucks when we get there.
