In the summer of 1987, Off Road magazine built a street legal replica of Ivan Stewart's exotic racer, utilizing the magazine's project test truck..The 2wd Extra Cab Turbo Toyota underwent a transformation that turned it into a head turning pre runner.. I remember seeing it myself at the '88 Mint 400. I can testify that it really caught your attention upon first seeing it.

Anyone know where it is now?

Ivan had a hard time figuring out which truck was the real thing!

Yeah, the only thing that's really impressive about this truck to anyone savvy about real pre runners are the original race fenders..Other than the Bilsteins and BFG's, the truck is still a stock 2wd vehicle..Doubt it would go far in a Baja pre run... Looked nice on the road and on the pages of Off Road magazine though.

I remember reading that article back then. I thought the diamond plate bed was a horrible idea myself, and i was only 17! Those front fenders are from the original class 7 molds, they don't stick out as far as the updated fenders when the truck was built wider for the unlimited class.

I remember those articles as well and hadn't seen them for a long time. Definitely say no to the diamond plate .

I never have seen one of those Ironman Edition trucks in person..Must be at least a few still around though.

I found this picture recently of the real truck and it looks like they may have tried the same thing and this imposter truck was trying to duplicate it as well as hide all the fake stuff.
