On our last Europe trip, we did England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and two weeks on the Isle of Man for the TT races. While we were in London, we did a day trip down to Southampton, to see the CHM-era Top Gear Museum. We got to see the rocket-propelled Mini ski jump car, the Hammerhead Eagle i-Thrust, the Reliant Robin space shuttle, the indestructible Toyota Hilux, the BMW diesel endurance race car, the mobility scooters, the scooters from the Vietnam special, the Lotus submarine, the amphibious cars, the double decker cars, the caravan airship, the Stig, and a bunch more.
Yes. The fake "sponsors" with hidden meanings has been a Clarkson/Hammond/May thing for many years. The black BMW in the photo above says "PENISTON OILS" on one side, and "LARSENS BISCUITS" on the other.
I watched it today. Another great episode. I love how they always poop on the country of origin for the cars they're testing, then in the end show it respect. I also loved how they incorporated the history into the race at the end.
