I will say that RG has posted a fair amount of stuff about the Dakar, about people wanting him there, about memories and such in the past month...don't know if that's typical of him, him stroking his own ego, just having fond memories or if it indicates that there might be something in development but....there it is...

oh, and for us armchair racers...don't forget that for the PC, Playstation and Xbox that there is Dakar '18 coming out in the near future! So far the trailers for it have not included actual gameplay so I don't know about the mechanics of it or if it will be just an "arcadey" type game or if it will be more realistic like a WRC or similar game...we can hope however that it will have real navigation, an open world, etc.

Talking about the Planet Robby Facebook? Pretty sure that's not him posting all that stuff; it's either a fan or just somebody that works for him

I’ve been playing the app version already. It’s a good way to kill time while pooping.

Based on what I have been reading this year and years past, Nasser has some money and support from some big bucks but is not able to write a blank check to race Dakar. Al Qassimi has real money and doesn't need support from anyone and can write a blank check to race whatever he wants. Just based on that I would be surprised if Nasser purchased a team and cars. He is much better as an arrive and drive. Al Qassimi could buy the entire Pug program including support vehicles and staff but why would he? PH Sport did a great job for him. It makes more sense to me that PH Sport buy the Pug program and rent the ride.

Can't wait for next year!

The bike guys did great. Would be great to see even more riders and teams from the US next year

Not that I think he’s trading in 2 wheels for 4 but Toby Price (after attending Parker) has been in Europe the past few days trying out rallycars and a Pug alongside Loeb and Antoine Meo with the PHSport folks...

He’s already raced Jesse Jones 4WD TT. Got to spend a couple days prerunning the ‘16 1000 with him.. well, watching him drive away until we met back up with them, lol. Dude made the prerunner sing.

Press release for the ASO.
Marc Coma, the Dakar Sporting Director, has decided to leave his position with the biggest rally-raid in the world in order to fully devote himself to personal projects.

Amaury Sport Organisation would like to express its heartfelt thanks to Marc for the three years he has spent as a member of the organisation team. Indeed, Marc has poured all his elite-level energy and skills into servicing the Dakar, working hand-in-hand with all the members of the organisation team and passing on his wealth of experience to his colleagues. Amaury Sport Organisation hopes he meets with similar success in his new projects.

“After having competed in the Dakar and won it five times, I’ve been lucky enough to discover what it’s like on the other side of the fence and the amazing organisational machine that runs this outstanding event. Being in the heart of the rally for three years, in contact with specialists fully devoted to their task, has taught me much about the professionalism and commitment of the organisational teams that work on an event that is unique throughout the world. I hope that the Dakar continues to be the subject of excitement and dreams for many a year to come”. Marc Coma.

This is linked to the the Supercars series downunder:

The 2016 bikes winner of the Dakar Rally, Toby Price is thought to be in the mix for a circuit racing debut in the ECB SuperUtes Series this year.

Price became the first Australian to win a class of the gruelling cross-country rally in 2016 on a KTM, and also finished third in ’15 and in last month’s ’18 edition.

Mitsubishi uses brand ambassador Price in its marketing campaign for the Triton, including a series of national television commercials.

The manufacturer and Price posted identical images on social media on Friday afternoon indicating a joint announcement is due to be made on Wednesday, February 14.

Mitsubishi was the first brand to commit to the new SuperUtes Series, with the Triton.

Craig Dontas is a confirmed starter in one of the Sieders Racing Team-built cars.

The new platform features turbo-diesel, dual-cab models from six manufacturers and starts at next month’s Supercars season-opening Adelaide 500.

All six models will take to the track this week at Queensland Raceway, in a parity test, before the eight-round series.
