The 5th race of the Kartek desert championship is the gold coast / snore 250 October 3-5. The Kartek bonus class for this race is the unlimited class. The winner of the unlimited class is guaranteed $2,000 with 10 cars in class. The gold coast casino has put up $3,000 to the overall winner, giving the unlimited class a chance at a $5,000 payday for the win. This will be the 34th running of the "racers race " and this year the track will run much of the old mint 400 track north of Las Vegas. This race is also the last race for the pro-1600 racers, and will be the deciding race for the championship. With racer sign-up at the famous gold coast casino just of the Las Vegas strip you can't lose with this race.

Kenny, as I remeber, spectating was excellent at this race. Will it be the same course or similar?

Yes pat the start finish is in the same spot, and about 70% of the track is the same as last years. The good thing about the area is it is in the only open area in the Las Vegas blm district, so the rangers don't police to area as they do in primm . last year one of the blm guys was taking photos of the race cars so i stopped and talked with him. He said he was having a good time watching the race and didn't care where you spectated as long as it was south of the paved road . With this being the last pro-1600 race and the points still up in the air, the 1600 race will be good. And with the bonus money for the overall and in unlimited, class 1 should be as big as last years race.

The entry's are starting to pore in, this will be the race that will decide the pro-1600 champion. With a chance at over $6000 for the overal win ,the unlimited's are signing up also. The blm has just given their OK to 5 spectator areas for the race. The drawing will be Sept. 27 in Vegas. There will be a barbecue and lots of prizes given away at the drawing.

There is no chasing ,there are 4 pits, you can retrieve or repair your vehicle if it can be safely reached. The open area that 20 miles of the track is in is a little different it's more open, like Barstow.

Score will let you retrieve a vehicle that can be reached safely at primm . You must 1st get a pass to do so, same as snore. bitd could do the same if they wanted

"Score will let you retrieve a vehicle that can be reached safely at primm ."

I think Score defines "safely" as 10 feet from an access road!!!

I don't know where you guys broke in primm . One of the guys we were pitting for broke at mile 51 and there was no way to get to him during the race without going on the track, so it was unsafe. Another car broke 4 miles after pit b it took 20 minutes to get the OK to get to him. At Henderson it was no problem getting to a car on the boulder city side.

Re: THE RACERS RACE $4,000 bonus for overall

Danny Anderson of imperial iron has just added $1,000 to the prize money for the overall winner of the gold coast snore 250 coming up on Oct 4th. With the imperial iron addition the overall bonus is now $4,000. Kartek has also added $2,000 to the unlimited class, making it possible to win over $7,000 for the unlimited class if they win overall. Many of the pro-dirt racers that competed in last years gold coast snore 250 are expected to compete for this years large purse. Last years race was the closest pro-dirt finish ever with the 1st 4 cars separated by 2 minutes. With 50 of the fastest 1600 racers in the pro-1600 class competing in the gold coast snore 250 the race will have a great turn out and some of the best desert racing this year. Also snore's western desert championship race has had the date changed to Nov. 8th. the race will take place in the famous nelson hills area. For more info call 702-452-4522
