Toyota 5sp transmission regear?

Can a Toyota 2wd 5spd transmission be regeared? W/o going to a 9" I've used up the "safe" gear possibilities at 4.88 so I thought maybe regear the transmission to get closer ratio's between the gears so 2nd and 3rd are more useable on the shortcourse...Thx, Curt

ive got a 2wd 4 speed stick and 2nd and 3rd are fairly long gears expecially 3rd gear. my 3rd gear will go up to 80. but 4th gear has no balls what so ever in the dirt... thats just the 4 speed stick though. good luck with your re-gear options if you find any.

Since you're 2wd and assuming a 22R/RE I would look into if any of the passenger cars came with close ratio 5 spds. I know the Corolla GTS' did, but that's for a smaller displacement engine (4A-GE's).

i know the older celicas had 22r/re in them maybe you could look at those trannies, i dont know if they are a diff. gear ratio but it may be worth a look

I have tryed with no luck to find info for my 5spd in my rally truck (toyota 2x) what size tire are you running? Maybe go smaller for the short corse?
