Just wondering if anybody's had the need to swap the 3.0L engine for the 7MGTE or if you guys are getting enough out of the 3.0L. I know a few rock crawler guys have done the Supra swap for the extra horsepower but I haven't heard of too many desert racers doing it. Thanks for the feedback. Oh btw, first post, love the site etc....

look at this http://www.supracharged.com , as for in a dez truck though i don't know, cause the turbos wouldn't be legal to race. But I been thinking about just putting a 7MGT (no turbos) in my next project. 24 valve, twin cam straight six with a chip in the computer, why not?

ah, forgot about the 'no turbo' rule... That would explain a lot. But like you said, I don't see any reason not to go for the regular Supra engine, especially if you were building a truck from the ground up.

Actually i messed up, it's a 7MGE motor. I have no idea what kind of horse power you could get out of one, but the only problem they have is blowin head gaskets which is usually fixed with a metal head gasket. And thats considerably less probles than the 3.0's have. Does anybody know what kind of torque and horse power the non-turbos put out?

I think the 7MGE puts out 200hp without mods. I've heard you can get 500 out of the turbo engine with some modifications. I don't know about torque but it should be relatively low.

The single turbo motors can put out 400 hp w/ exhaust, larger injectors, and a better turbo. The twin turbo motors (I believe they were only offered in the lexus' not the supras) can put out 900 (as proved at last years seam show on a REAR WHEEL dyno) with the same mods. Steve

But again, the turbos are not legal in dez racing. So what kind of HP will a 7MGE with all the mods, but no tubos put out?

our shop Supra just did over a thousand at the rear wheels.

Rather than a 7mge get the 2jzge, from the non turbo supra or sc300. Its a better motor. Another idea is find a 2jzgte and run it NA. That motor is so stout, and the rod ratio can be decreased via stroking to compensate for decreased cyl pressures.

2jzgte's are overprices, but the 2jzge isnt too bad. Its also in a ton of vehicles, es300, sc300, supra non turbo is300 etc etc

The awesome thing about the 7MGE is that it bolts straight up to a truck bell housing, do you know if the 2jzge will or where i can get some more info on it?
