transmission time

so the trans in my girls 2000 7.3 4x4 f350 has developed an overdrive issue,when you put it in od it bogs down and almost stops at any speed over 50 so its new trans time.ive built all the transmissions for my stuff but i dont have the time or experiance with the 4r100 to rebuild it so we are going to get a rebuild from someone.who is everyone using and like dislikes etc.she tows a 4 horse gooseneck trailer with it often and it hauls hay and does random pit chase duty every so often also.we have about $3500-$4000 to spend so i cant go crazy and this has to include the convertor and new coolers lines etc.it is running 35s and has the wrong/stock gears in it right now but are getting changed in the next few months.any insight would be helpful thanks.

Take it to Hughes Transmissions on McDowell and the I17. They can hook you up.

I've heard that most of the problem is the torque converter,so if it's in the budget TCS makes a really good billet torque converter.I heard this from the shop that builds my race transmission and he's good w/ super duty transmission's but he's here in cali in Norwalk.

Converter is a weak point but is expensive (~900$). Get an upgraded one if you can.

Also have larger cooler lines run for the transmission, it helps quite a bit will cooling. I added an external spin on filter to my E4OD years ago and it helps keep the fluid super clean. I change the filter every 9K miles.

I have had a few trans rebuilt by Pete's Transmission off of Van Buren and I17. Never had any issues.

I believe TCI builds a 4R100 with a good warranty and converter. I am not sure on the price though...

Does your OD light on the column flash? do you have the 3.73 or the 4.10 gears, big tires and the stock ford convertor don't mix well, leave OD off and you will be better off for it.

my 99 did the above and yes it was the Torq converter took a crap, upgraded and never had another issue. my 2002 never had this prob, towed the same rig and did the same things, who knows .

i called a friend of rusty so its in the works.it has 182000 miles on it so we expected it and planned for it.thanks everyone hopefully we can get it done next week so i dont have to ride to work anymore im too old for that crap anymore.
