Just starting my build picked up a 2001 cab with back half close to complete. Cab cage is 2” abd tig wekded. Plan for the truck right now is center mount j arm front, dual spares standing in rear with fuel cell behind axel. Current power plant is built Chevy 5.0 305 but that may change if I can find someone who want to trade for an ls. Trans is a 4l60e and rear ended end is going to be ford 9 inch. Will keep pictures of progress posted here. Hoping for 1-2 years to completion as this is a weekend/after work project.

Already made quick updates to the start of the rear end since I picked it up. Still a lot of wire wheeling to go but she’s getting there.

Couple small updates found a smoking deal on a 60” wide 4” inch Currie housing and made a deal for a Chevy 350 with performance heads intake and carb.

Made some small progress tonight got the surface rust off the new rear end. Now need to find a way to get it off the inside.

Also made some cuts in the rear to get rid of a weird down bend and make room for a 50 gallon fuel cell.

like after welding on housing, you get those big slag flakes, as long as its clean and just surface pitting/ rust, it will be ok in a gear oil environment, just dont want big crap in the bearings& seals, it was advice on how clean to get it from mit years ago, i would just get all the fab& prep done on housing then have it boiled/ steam cleaned out really good

Small update today after some welder problems. The miller tig I used to use to fix my class 10 was no longer available so had to buy my own but didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg and found yes welder had good reviews so ordered one. Could not get the thing to work so contacted yes welder they sent me another unit to which had same issues. I have been tig welding for 13 years so knew it had to be the machine. Got a refund and decided to get a mig mainly for time and money savings. Got a titanium mig 140 from harbor freight and must say thing welds great.

All that aside here is the few tubes or frame rails I was able to get in during a lunch break. More to come soon.

Also traded the Chevy 350 motor for a Chevy ls 2 with wiring harness and ecu so now have a solid power plant.
