Rhodium hit $29,200 a ounce today. It averaged around $300 a ounce in the late 90s and Toyota used a lot of rhodium from 93-2005. My wife’s 97 landcruiser stays in the garage because it has two cats that are easy to get.crazy to think you have at least $1000 dollars worth of one of the most valuable metals on earth in your tail pipe.

Yea, my exhaust guy told me Prius and toyota trucks, along with the F250 are like the top 3. But the make a kit for the Prius to prevent the theft. Nothing for the F250 or Toyotas.

The kalifornistan-approved prius catalytic converter is 10x the price of the regular ones. Catalytic Converter for 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 Toyota Prius 1.5L 16337 | eBay. "Due To The Increased Emissions Standards. This Item Is Not Certified For Sale In California And New York." Kinda ironic that politicians decided that a Prius isn't good enough with a perfectly good OEM cat; it needs a Special one instead.

Another successful kalifornia gubmint decision. Make it near impossible to maintain an older Prius, because "feelings ". This is like Cash for Clunkers 2.0.

A YouTube video at a California exhaust shop talking about the cats being stolen. I don’t know how to link the vid.

The cat scam, (plus the $2200-4100 cost of replacing those batteries when they expire), is gonna be the death of the Prius.
